On October 28, JICA-RI Deputy Director Naohiro Kitano discussed on global issues with Ms. Nanna Hvidt, Director of the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS). Invited by the Japanese government, she visited JICA-RI during her stay in Japan.

DIIS is a Danish think tank founded in 2003 by merging four well-established research institutes. About 50 researchers with expertise in diverse fields conduct a wide range of interdisciplinary studies on international agendas: conflicts, economic policies, diplomatic relations, and aid policies.

Kitano introduced research programs of JICA-RI, while Ms. Hvidt introduced the DIIS’s on-going study on politics and economy in African communities as well as the comparative study on support for Africa from emerging nations—China, India, and Brazil. She also expressed her hope to promote interaction between DIIS and JICA-RI.
