Every stakeholder met together at the workshop

On 28th November 2017, MONRE and JICA co-organized the last workshop for the outcome of low carbon technology assessment. In this workshop, the line ministries, international organizations, national research institutes and the international and national experts working for INDC participated at the same time. The workshop aimed to 1) report the final output of the low carbon technology assessment, 2) summarize the inputs from the line ministries for the assessment activities, and 3) discuss about the necessary activities for the mitigation policies development relevant to the sectoral socioeconomic development indicators and the priority issues in Vietnam.

As the main outcome of the low carbon technology assessment, the 150 low carbon technologies relevant to the mitigation sectors defined in NDC, such as energy, waste, agriculture, LULUCF, were summarized, and additional inclusion of F gas regulation in the INDC was proposed. Moreover, the detailed study was compiled to the following outcomes:

The above-mentioned Technology Catalogue was compiled to match the current NDC development in Vietnam with the view to support the NDC update and the development of the NDC related policies.

Regarding the final report and proposal from the study team, the participants were keen to ask questions during the workshop. Some discussions on private sector were observed, such as that the involvement of the private sector, who was the major actor in GHG emission, to the emission reduction policies would be a key in the future, and that the cost-effective low carbon technology should be publicized to improve the companies' incentives. The interests of the participants on the action plan development in the line ministries and local governments were particularly observed. Furthermore, the participants fully recognized the necessity of the development of Roadmap Decree, which is supported by the SPI-NAMA Project.
