Training on Gender-responsive Project Cycle Management

A 2-day training on Gender-responsive Project Cycle Management (PCM) was conducted from January 23 to 24, 2020 as a part of the Annual Gender and Child Focal Point Meeting organized by the National Commission for Women and Children (NCWC) at Tashi Namgay Grand Resort, Phuntsholing.

This training was organized as a complementary training for our technical cooperation project: Country-focused Training on "gender mainstreaming, women's empowerment, child well-being and child rights," which is a 3-year technical cooperation project that JICA Bhutan Office is implementing with our counterpart, NCWC.

This complementary training aimed to provide participants, mainly the Gender Focal Points (GFPs) at the central government agencies and the Gender and Child Focal Points (GCFPs) appointed at each Dzongkhag, with the basic concepts and practical skills for gender-responsive PCM. Particular emphasis was placed on the project planning and designing stage so that a gender perspective can effectively incorporated throughout the project cycle.

A total of 68 participants participated, including GFPs, GCFPs, as well as representatives of related CSOs and development partners.

2 Japanese experts from Kitakyushu Forum on Asian Women (KFAW) and M & Y Consultants Co., Ltd. Were invited from Japan as the facilitators. 4 ex-trainees who participated in JICA Knowledge Co-creation Training Program on " Gender Mainstreaming Policies for Government Officer" who participated the gender-responsive PCM workshop in Kitakyushu City, Japan, also supported the Japanese experts as the assistant facilitators.
