Mr. SATO Chikara, JICA's Expert in Cambodia

Mr. SATO Chikara, Chief Advisor of the Project for Establishing Business Oriented Agricultural Cooperative Models (BPAC), has been working in Cambodia since May 2017 to support the management of 180 established Agricultural Cooperatives (ACs) in 4 target provinces (Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Svay Rieng) under 5-year project. 10 ACs were selected as "pilot AC" to implement their proposed businesses to be supported by the Project and some of them received the awards from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. As a result, it has contributed to improvement of farmer's income and livelihood in Cambodia through the Project.

He thinks the AC Standard created by the Project shall be expanded nationwide for the macroeconomic and society development in Cambodia while human resource needs to be further strengthened, and the materials such as guidelines and manuals developed by the Project need to be updated in order to keep supporting for ACs in Cambodia.

He has built good relationship and network with Cambodian counterparts, members of ACs and farmers.
