Tonle Sap Lake is the largest flood-pulsed freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, supporting the livelihoods of millions of people living on and around the lake. However, recent changes in the lake water environment due to deterioration of water quality and decline in biological resources have caused various problems to local people living in floating villages along the lake, particularly on their health and livelihoods. This video gives a glimpse of efforts by scientists and researchers from Cambodia and Japan under the project "Establishment of Environmental Conservation Platform of Tonle Sap Lake" to have a better understanding on the recent environmental changes in Tonle Sap Lake, their impacts on local people and their livelihoods, as well as to identify necessary countermeasures for addressing these problems. The project is funded by JICA and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), under the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development (SATREPS- JICA/JST).
