On May 25th 2019, Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCVs) held an event called "祭MATSURI-JICA Volunteer 10th Anniversary-" to celebrate its 10th year of dispatch in Timor-Leste. The accumulated number of JOCVs has also reached 100 this January.

The event started with a modernized traditional Japanese dance "YOSAKOI SORAN" by our JOCVs together with Timorese students. The event attracted with over 300 visitors.

JOCVs organized Exhibitions and Stage Shows to provide opportunities for the Timorese to gain some knowledge on JICA and JOCVs with the event's motto: "Get to know about Japan". In the Exhibition, people enjoyed various interactive activities with the JOCVs in Health, Tourism and Sports expertise. Japanese Embassy (cultural exhibition), Japanese NGO (PARCIC products) and JICA (introducing Rice Project) also cooperated in the event. In the Stage Show, JOCVs demonstrated "Aikido" (Japanese traditional martial arts), performed a play (promoting Hands Wash) and a Fashion Show presenting clothes made of traditional woven cloth "Tais".

This anniversary event ended quite successfully, entertaining Timorese participants. We hope and believe the event has brought Timorese people closer to JOCVs.
