JICA-RI Presents Preliminary Findings on Impacts of Study Abroad at WERA 2019 Focal Meeting

Project researchers from the JICA Research Institute (JICA-RI) participated in the World Education Research Association (WERA) 2019 Focal Meeting held in Tokyo between Aug. 5 and 8, 2019 and organized a session on the last day of the meeting to introduce the preliminary findings of the research project “Empirical Research on Impacts of Study Abroad in Developing Countries - based on Study Abroad Experiences of Academic Professionals of Major Universities in ASEAN.”

JICA-RI Visiting Fellow Miki Sugimura chaired the session, while JICA Vice-President Nobuko Kayashima, Sarah R. Asada of Kyoritsu Women’s University, Akemi Ashida of Waseda University, Naoki Umemiya of JICA and JICA-RI Research Officer Atsushi Tsujimoto shared the preliminary findings of the project. Kazuo Kuroda, visiting fellow at JICA-RI, and Sae Shimauchi of Tokyo Metropolitan University also participated as discussants.

Approximately 20 experts attended the session with many comments and questions that contributed to a lively discussion.
