Senior Research Advisor Ohno Izumi and Visiting Fellow Kawashima Shin Were Awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2023

Ohno Izumi, a senior research advisor at the JICA Ogata Sadako Research Institute for Peace and Development (also a professor at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies) and Kawashima Shin, a visiting fellow at the JICA Ogata Research Institute (also a professor at the University of Tokyo) were awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2023.

The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries, to increase understanding and support of the Japanese public for their activities.

Ohno was recognized for promoting international cooperation. Ohno served as executive director of the JICA Ogata Research Institute during October 2018-September 2020 and has been involved in the “Research Project on the Japanese Experience of Industrial Development and Development Cooperation: Analysis of Translative Adaptation Processes.”

Kawashima, who is involved in research on the political and diplomatic history of China and Taiwan, was recognized for promoting Japanese studies in China.
