Pre-release of Selected Contents From the Flagship Report Human Security Today No. 3

2026.07.07

JICA Ogata Sadako Research Institute for Peace and Development has published its flagship report series, Human Security Today, since 2022. Ahead of the release of the third issue, scheduled for September 2026, selected contents are now available.

Following the inaugural issue “Revisiting Human Security ” and the second issue “Human Security, Politics and Society under Compounded Crises ,” the third issue features “Measuring Human Security.” It examines, from human-centered perspectives, how threats to lives, livelihoods, and dignity—as well as the range of ways people can live their lives—can be understood and measured through multiple lenses.

In advance of the full publication, the Institute has released an overview of the report, an introductory video, the opening essay by Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, and a special dialogue between JICA President Tanaka Akihiko and Professor Sakiko Fukuda-Parr, who served as Director and Lead Author of the UNDP Human Development Reports from 1995 to 2004.

The Institute invites readers to explore these materials through the links below.
