English Edition of Human Security Today No.3, Measuring Human Security, Now Available

Since 2022, the JICA Ogata Sadako Research Institute for Peace and Development (JICA Ogata Research Institute) has published its flagship report series, Human Security Today, to foster discussion and research on human security . The Institute has now published the English edition of Human Security Today No. 3, titled Measuring Human Security , following the release of the Japanese edition in March 2026.

This third issue explores how threats to human security, as well as people's freedoms, potential, and capabilities, can be measured and visualized, offering multidisciplinary perspectives on human-centered norms and innovative approaches to their measurement.

The report brings together contributions from leading researchers and practitioners from diverse disciplines, including a special contribution by Nobel laureate Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz.

In addition to the full report, readers can access an overview booklet that includes the appendix, Steps for the Implementation of Human Security , as well as an introductory video highlighting the report’s key messages.
