Analysis of the Role and Challenges of Intangible Assets in Developing Economies

The importance of intangible assets, such as patents, brand value, know-how, and software, which are different from tangible assets like corporate factory equipment, machinery, and public infrastructure, has been pointed out in recent years.

In developed countries, intangible assets are becoming a major driver of economic growth, surpassing tangible assets, and various discussions are being held on their measurement and disclosure methods.

The role of intangible assets is also expected to become increasingly significant in developing countries. This study provides an overview of the current state of investment in intangible assets in developing countries and organizes potential issues in development policies in developing countries in relation to intangible assets.
