Realizing Human Security through Disaster Risk Reduction
Disasters can pose threats to human security by directly endangering human lives and altering the environment in ways that undermine people's livelihoods and dignity. They also tend to have a significant impact on vulnerable populations. Disaster risk reduction effort is an approach to protect people and the economic foudations that support people's livelihoods from disasters, breaking the cycle of poverty, and directly contributing to human security.
