Purposes of the council

  • Not only disaster victims but also entire nation should play an each role for the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, which devastated Tohoku Region on 11 March, 2011.
  • From now on, it is important for Japan to aspire not to recovering merely but to making creative effort in future-oriented manner.
  • The aim of the Council is to draw a blueprint of reconstruction design for formulation of a guideline including a wide-ranging standpoint.

Key Activities

The Reconstruction Design Council, an advisory committee to Prime Minister Naoto Kan, submitted recommendations on June 25 blueprinting how to rebuild areas in northeastern Japan devastated by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
