Jakarta (3/10/2022) JICA in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia (Kemenperin) starts the training for Indonesian shipbuilding companies under the technical cooperation "Project for the Indonesian Shipbuilding Industry Modernization". The training will be held until 14th October at the Pusat Industri Digital 4.0 (PIDI 4.0).

This training aims to improve the productivity of shipbuilding companies in Indonesia. The training material is not limited only to technical knowledge, but the participants will also learn various topics such as Shipyards Management, Cash-flow Management, and Shipbuilding Plan.

The training participants will be mentored by 4 experts' team from Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding group (MES TOKKI & Engineering Co., Ltd.), and some of the retired expert shipbuilders from PT PAL, the largest shipbuilding company in Indonesia.

The training participants consist of 12 middle management personnel from 8 shipbuilding companies in JABODETABEK, Lombok, and Makassar.

"The shipbuilding industry is essential to the economic prosperity of Indonesia as a maritime nation, and we expect that promoting productivity and management improvement of Indonesian shipbuilding companies will contribute to the realization of the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP). " stated Yasui Takehiro, Chief Representative of JICA Indonesia Office.

Through this project, JICA plans to conduct a total of five on-site training programs by October 2023.
