The grant agreement for the Urmaral Bridge Reconstruction Project has been signed

On 17 July 2019, Chief Representative of JICA Office, Mr. Naoyuki Nemoto, and Minister of Finance of the KR, Ms. Baktygul Jeenbaeva, signed the agreement for the grant aid project "Reconstruction of Urmaral River Bridge on Talas-Taraz Road".

The bridge is located on the international transport corridor connecting the country with Kazakhstan, approximately 20 km away from the city of Talas.

The project aims at erection of a three span 90-meter bridge and rehabilitation of the access road on both sides of the bridge totaling 1 km. Besides, the revetments (riverbank protection structures) will be installed.

After completion of the ratification procedure for the signed grant agreement by the Kyrgyz side, the project's consultants will embark on the detailed engineering design. The start of the civil works are planned for the next year.
