JICA/ Japan commenced construction of Japan-Myanmar Aung San Vocational Training Institute (JMSVTI)

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has started construction works of Japan-Myanmar Aung San Vocational Training Institute (JMSVTI) officially on 10 January 2020. The institute will be established as a new Government Technical Institute (GTI), and is expected to be a model of Japanese standard TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) in the field of the Automobile Maintenance and Electrical Engineering. The institute locates at the former Aung San GTHS and new diploma courses on the two sectors will be offered.

In parallel with the construction, JICA's technical cooperation project,"the Project for Quality Improvement of TVET Program" is now implemented with four long-term experts from Japan dispatched since August 2018. The experts are supporting the Ministry of Education to develop new curriculums, textbooks, training of teachers and management staff. Besides, in the area of human resources development, the "Project for Development of National Skills Standards Project (NSS)" is supporting in skills assessment through development of skills standards of the two sectors. Also, Myanmar- Japan Centre is conducting various business related training courses. JICA Myanmar expects that the sustainable and quality human resource development of business and industry at various levels can build the solid basis of investment environments in Myanmar.
