Thailand officials and agencies receiving JICA President Award 2019.

The JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka, presented the JICA President Award to three Thailand laureates at the 15th JICA President Award on 8 October 2019 , at JICA Ichigaya, Tokyo.

The first laureate, H.E. Mr. Arkhom Tempittayapaisith, former Secretary General of NESDB and Minister of Transport, has been a key person in JICA's long history of cooperation for urban and regional development as well as transport infrastructure and policy development in Thailand. His leadership and advice always supported JICA to implement strategically important projects in effective way.

Dr. Preya Kullavanijaya, Advisor, and Dr. Mingkwan Wichaidit, Director of Institute of Dermatology, were congratulated for their contribution in producing more than 1,048 dermatologists around the world through the Diploma Course in Dermatology, in collaboration with JICA, Juntendo University, Japan Dermatology Association and another top ten Japan Medical Schools over more than 40 years of cooperation.

The third laureate is the Division of Anti-Trafficking in Persons (DATIP), Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS), for their significant contribution on "Capacity Development on Assisting Victims of Trafficking" with outstanding outcomes and continuous effort to combat human trafficking in Thailand, and neighboring countries, together with Japan.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) annually presents the JICA President Award to commend individuals and organizations with preeminent achievements of socio-economic development in developing countries through JICA's international cooperation activities. This year, as its 15th round, JICA honored 58 individuals/organizations.
