JICA President Shinichi Kitaoka held talks with International Monetary Fund Deputy Managing Director Carla Grasso on Dec. 3 at JICA Headquarters in Tokyo.

They discussed growing concerns about the debt sustainability of certain countries, as well as the two institutions' partnership in the Africa region. The IMF and JICA are carrying out training to strengthen the capacity of developing countries to manage their debt. The two affirmed the importance of the partnership between the IMF with its macro point of view and JICA, which carries out projects in the field.

JICA will continue cooperating with the IMF to carry out initiatives for the stability and prosperity of the world economy and to strengthen the capacity of developing countries to manage their macroeconomies and finances.
