[Tanzania] AFICAT participated in Agricultural Festival, Nane Nane (August 8, 2024)

2024.08.08

Every year around August 8th, agricultural festival—commonly known as Nane Nane—are held at several locations across Tanzania. In Swahili, the national language of Tanzania, the word for “eight” is nane, and the event derives its name from its timing of the festival, August 8.

In 2024, the fair was held from Thursday, August 1st to Thursday, August 8th.

While AFICAT had initially planned to exhibit at the main venue in the capital city of Dodoma, space constraints made it difficult to secure an adequate exhibition area. As a result, AFICAT partnered with the Uyole Center of the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) and decided to exhibit at the Mbeya venue instead. Mbeya is a region known as one of largest rice-producing area in Tanzania.

Kubota Corporation’s local distributor generously provided a Kubota tractor and power tiller for display purposes, which were showcased next to the AFICAT booth. AFICAT’s Focal Person, together with staff from TARI Uyole, introduced products and technologies from over 20 Japanese companies—including those of Kubota—to visitors at the venue.
