[Japan] The Third Information Sharing Session on Tanzania was held in Tokyo (October 2, 2024)

On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, AFICAT held its 3rd Information Sharing Session at JICA Headquarters in Tokyo. This event series aims to support Japanese companies in expanding their business in Africa by providing insights into the agricultural sector and needs in AFICAT’s five key target countries. JICA experts as well as representatives from AFICAT’s partner organizations share their knowledge and experiences to Japanese stakeholders to promote agriculture sector by introducing new Japanese technologies and products in African countries.

The theme of this third meeting was Tanzania, one of AFICAT’s key focus countries. The JICA Agricultural Mechanization Advisor Team, which supports AFICAT’s activities as part of their activities, presented an overview of the current state of agricultural mechanization in Tanzania, including key challenges and needs. Additionally, the JICA Tanzania Office introduced the upcoming Tanzania Agricultural and Rural Development Two-Step Loan (TSL) project, which is set to launch soon.

The event welcomed approximately 50 participants, both in person and online, including representatives from agricultural machinery manufacturers who traveled from outside of Tokyo to attend. After the meeting, a networking reception was held at a nearby restaurant, further fostering connections among attendees.

The event was held both online and in person, with approximately 20 participants attending in person. The session featured lively discussions and an active Q&A session.
