[Ghana] Farmers’ Day Exhibition in Ghana: Showcasing Japanese Agricultural Technology (November 4, 2024)

2024.11.04

In Ghana, the first Friday of December is designated as "Farmers’ Day," a national holiday celebrating the contributions of farmers. Each year, the event is hosted in a different location and includes an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding farmers, along with an exhibition showcasing agricultural equipment and materials.

Due to Ghana’s upcoming presidential election in December 2024, the awards ceremony and exhibition for Farmers’ Day were held earlier, from Monday, November 4, to Friday, November 8. The exhibition took place in the Efua Sutherland Children's Park in the capital, Accra, where various stakeholders in the agricultural sector—including government agencies, agricultural equipment dealers, donors, and NGOs—set up booths to present their activities and products.

AFICAT, with the support of the Agricultural Engineering Services Directorate under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, participated in the exhibition with its own booth. The booth featured products and technologies from 19 Japanese companies. Visitors showed great interest, asking questions such as where they could purchase the products, pricing details, and whether the equipment was compatible with solar or gas power. For Japanese products with local distributors, contact information and price lists were provided. Inquiries regarding product specifications were relayed to the respective Japanese companies to ensure accurate information was shared with local stakeholders.

On the final day of the exhibition, the Minister of Food and Agriculture visited the AFICAT booth, providing an opportunity to introduce AFICAT and Japanese companies to key government officials.
