Tromso’s Rice Husk Briquette Machine was introduced at a seminar organized by AFICAT Nigeria on February 6, 2025. The seminar was attended by 40 participants, including representatives from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), the rice milling industry association, and other private companies.
Mr. Shaibu of the Agribusiness Market Development Department (ABM), AFICAT Nigeria's Focal Person (FP), opened the seminar with a speech by Mr. Akonsile, Co-Chair of AFICAT Nigeria and Vice President of NACCIMA. Mr. Joseph of the Federal Department of Agriculture (FDA), also an FP, gave a presentation on AFICAT Nigeria.
Mr. Yukii Walter from Tromso took the stage and introduced Tromso and their technologies. With the support of JICA, Japanese Embassies in different countries, UNIDO, and other organizations, Tromso has introduced its products in seven African countries, including Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal, Ghana, Uganda, Madagascar, and Tanzania. Following the introduction of the company, a presentation was given on the Tromso’s rice husk briquette machine and the biochar produced from the machine and its utilization.
The participants asked questions pertaining to production capacity per hour, spare parts supply system, and cost-effectiveness. Participants from the Sasakawa Africa Foundation, which has already installed this equipment, shared their views on the challenges and possibilities in learning and using the equipment in Nigeria. The FDA also proposed to use government subsidy policy to encourage farmers to adopt such equipment.
AFICAT Nigeria took the initiative to introduce Japanese companies' products in the field. In Nigeria, where mechanization is lagging behind, opportunities for exposure to such new technologies are limited. Therefore, it is expected that AFICAT will take the lead in creating such opportunities to increase awareness of Japanese technologies.
Mr. Shaibu, AFICAT FP explained the purpose of the seminar
