Planetary Health and JICA
“Planetary Health” is a concept that emphasizes the interconnectedness of human and animal health with the health of the planet, aiming to address social, economic, and ecosystem issues comprehensively.
JICA has long worked toward achieving the SDGs with its “JICA Global Agenda,” which outlines JICA’s cooperation strategies for 20 priority issues. These efforts not only protect people’s health but also support community livelihoods through safe water supply, disaster preparedness, sustainable energy use, environmental conservation, and the development of local industries. Viewed through the lens of Planetary Health, many of these initiatives already contribute to the health of both people and the planet.
Moving forward, JICA will continue to strengthen collaboration across diverse sectors, not limited to healthcare, and provide support that advances Planetary Health.
