Peacebuilding Capacity Development of Local Government for Community Rebuilding in Conflict-Affected Countries Chugoku Center English The course will focus on the relevance of community rebuilding to peacebuilding and the roles of local government and communities therein. Reference will be made to Japan's experience in local development, local government system, as well as post-war and post-disaster reconstruction processes. Participants will also share and learn views and experiences from other participants.
Peacebuilding Trust Building between Government and Community by Capacity Development of Local Government Leaders in Sahel and Neighboring Countries Chugoku Center French This course aims to promote understanding of the peacebuilding efforts to rebuild local communities in the Sahel countries and neighboring countries affected by the conflict/crisis, and the roles to be played by local government leaders, and to develop their leadership skills. As a reference, the program will introduce Japan's local development, local government system, and post-war and post-disaster recovery experiences, as well as exchange views with Japanese leaders on local development and local governance. In addition, participants will share with each other of knowledge, experiences, and issues on local governance.
Peacebuilding Building a Resilient State Tokyo Center English The course will focus on building a resilient state and will provide opportunity to reflect on the polices and roles of related institutions. Reference will be made to Japan's experience in evolution of development policies and administrative system, as well as building public trust and anti-corruption measures. Participants will also share and learn experiences from other participants.
Governance Counter International Terrorism Tokyo Center English In this KCCP, participants who have professional expertise on counter terrorism are expected to share their experience and learn how Japanese police has implemented their countermeasures against international terrorism. This program also aims to establish and enhance close cooperative relationship among participating countries and Japan in the field of international terrorism prevention.
Governance Competition Law and Policy (Laying the Foundation for Promoting Competition) Kansai Center English This course is designed for officials of competition (related) authorities. The course will provide participants with the theoretical lectures on competition law and policy in Japan by academics, as well as practical exercise by JFTC officials. In comparison with the situation in Japan, participants are expected to analyze the challenges in respective country and find its solution.

Governance Improving Access to Justice to Realize SDG 16 Tokyo Center English This seminar is designed to introduce various systems and initiatives to improve access to Justice in Japan, share challenges and experiences of participating countries, and encourage consideration of measures to improve access to Justice in participating countries.

Governance Criminal Justice Response to Corruption Tokyo Center English This course is organized by the United Nations Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI), an institution known worldwide for its high-quality international training courses and seminars in the crime prevention and criminal justice sector.

Governance Public International Law Focused on Law of the Sea and Peaceful Settlement of International Dispute Tokyo Center English This seminar is designed to improve the capacity of practicing the internationl law in each participant's country by allowing an oppotunity to learn the Law of the Sea and the mechanism for peaceful settlement of international dispute as well as by introducing the role of the public international law from the point of view of the rule of law in the international society.
Governance Organization Management for Senior Police Officers Tokyo Center English In order to realize the rule of law and guarantee fundamental human rights, it is essential that the police, as a law enforcement agency, be administered democratically. This seminar is offered to senior police officers. The participants learn democratic system and activities of Japan Police, thus acquiring the knowledge and experience necessary for future senior executives. They share the challenges they face and discuss how to deal with those issues.
Governance International Criminal Investigation Tokyo Center English In order to realize the rule of law and guarantee basic human rights in the midst of increasing cross-border crimes, it is necessary to strengthen international cooperation and international collaboration among law enforcement agencies as well as to strengthen the capacity of law enforcement agencies in each country.This program is offered to middle-ranking officials,especially for officials of international criminal investigation or Mutual Legal Assistance in criminal matters.Participants have opportunities to identify the common understanding and challenges each country is facing in the field as well as to consider measures to deal with them by observing how Japanese police have worked in this field.
Governance Community Policing Tokyo Center English In order to realize the rule of law and guarantee basic human rights, it is necessary to ensure the safety and peace of local communities. In Japan, community policing activities are based on police boxes (Koban) and residential police boxes (Chuzaisho), working closely with local communities and in cooperation with local residents, businesses, and local governments.This KCCP is targeted for officers of central police agency in each country. Participants acquire knowledge and technique of community policing after learning the system and activities of Japanese community policing. They also have a chance to know the educating system of police officers. Furthermore participants share their own activities for community policing and discuss how to improve their system.
Governance Criminal Identification Tokyo Center English In order to realize the rule of law and guarantee fundamental human rights, it is essential that law enforcement agencies such as police departments conduct investigations fairy based on evidence.
In order to improve police activities such as criminal investigation and corpse identification, during the course, the
participants will gain knowledge on technology and the system mainly on fingerprint and palm print identification.
Governance Countermeasures Against Cybercrime Tokyo Center English With the increasing threat of cybercrime, international collaboration and cooperation among law enforcement agencies has become essential, as well as strengthening the capacity of law enforcement agencies in each country to promote the rule of law in cyberspace.
In this KCCP, the participants will learn how the Japanese police deals with cybercrime in terms of investigation technique, legislation, cooperation with the private sector and digital forensics. The program also provides them an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and cooperation among national police of Japan and participating countries.
Governance Control of Drug Offences Tokyo Center English In order to confront transnational criminal organizations engaged in drug smuggling and trafficking, which pose a serious threat to the safety of civil society and the rule of law, international collaboration and cooperation among law enforcement agencies are essential, as well as capacity building of law enforcement agencies. Japan is promoting drug crime investigation using the latest technology. This seminar will share with you the investigation techniques, knowledge and experiences of Japan in combatting drug crimes, and help you establish the international network against transnational drug crimes.
Governance Electoral Management in Democratic Countries Tokyo Center English Credible electoral management is essential to achieve fair elections which are the foundation of democracy. This course aims to co-create knowledge on a credible electoral management and will include topics on, but not limited to, voter registration, polling, sorting, counting, result management, voter and civic education, electoral system, electoral policy, media and elections, and elements of democracy.
Governance The Role of Media in Democratic Countries (Access to Information and Function as a Watchdog) Tokyo Center English In order to maintain a sound democratic country, it is essential to guarantee freedom of speech, which is one of the fundamental human rights, and for the media to fulfil its function of monitoring power. This seminar mainly focuses on the Public Service Broadcasting, which is expected to report without being influenced by the state power or the market. The participants of the seminar also learn Japan's media administration, the dual system of the public and the private media, and self-regulatory system.
Governance Governmental Human Resource Management (For Government Officials) Tokyo Center English This course is designed for government officials (Director level) of the central personnel administration agencies which is responsible for the personnel management of government officers. Participants will learn about systems and practices of personnel management and its principle in Japan and participating countries and consider possible solustions for challenges they are facing in their countries.
Governance Government Audit on Public Construction Works Tokyo Center English In auditing public works, it is essential to verify not only the accounting aspects, but also the designing, cost estimation, construction and usage after completion. This seminar aims to enhance SAI auditor's ability of public works audit by sharing experience and knowledge of SAI Japan, thereby contributing to improvement of social infrastructure, which leads to further development in their countries.
Governance National Government Administration for Senior Officials Tokyo Center English The way of public administration contributing to the socioeconomic development in the participating countries will be reviewed and a better plan will be proposed. As references, the postwar development process and the recent socioeconomic trends in Japan will be introduced from the view point of policy formulation and implementation based on the historical and social background.
Governance Participatory Local Social Development (PLSD) Chubu Center English For self-reliant and sustainable community development, it is fundamental to analyze the capacity of local community in terms of a local societal system and locally shared resource utilization to capacitate the local organizations.

Governance Capacity Building of Local Governments for Development with Community Participation(A) Hokkaido Center (Sapporo) Spanish This course provides opportunities for officers of municipalities as well as of central governments responsible for regional development to learn experience and approaches regarding local governance and community participation in Japan, and to be able to effectively play a role in regional development in their own countries.
Governance Local Governance in Global Perspectives Tokyo Center English This program is designed for mid-level central and local government officials involved in local government. The training aims to deepen participants' understanding of their country's local government system by comparing the local system, including the state of governance in Japan and the participants' countries, and the actual local administration, while using the system and operation of local administration, public finance, and tax administration in Japan as material.
Governance Theory and Practices in Official Statistics for Monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Tokyo Center English To build the institutional capacity of national statistical systems to produce basic statistics related to the sustainable development indicators by training on internationally agreed statistical standards, frameworks, and methodologies. The training course also introduces current good practices and how these may be adapted at the country level in modernizing their statistical business processes.
Governance Business and Human Rights Tokyo Center English Under the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights approved by the UN Human Rights Council in 2011, each signatory is expected to develop the necessary legislation to protect workers' rights within the nation and in any international business activities, and establish judiciary/non-judiciary grievance mechanism to remedy business-related human rights violations, while the private sector is expected to promote human rights due diligence (hereinafter HRDD) in order to identify, prevent, and mitigate negative impacts to workers' rights, and to establish effective grievance mechanism for individuals and communities. This training course aims to disseminate the efforts and good practices of Japanese line ministries, as well as companies and civil society organizations in charge of the implementation of the "Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (2020-2025)" to a wide range of human rights-related ministries in developing countries, and contribute to their promotion of HRDD.

Economic Policy Stock Exchange Development Tokyo Center English This program aims at stock exchange development through a series of lectures and discussions on securities market operation, self-regulation, and other issues related to securities market development. Participants will examine the way to tackle the bottleneck and promote the development of stock exchange in each country.
Economic Policy Finance for Regional Development including SME Finance Tokyo Center English Regional economic development is one of the key factors for developing countries to make steady progress in economic development. Focusing on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which play an important role, this program aims to acquire and share the necessary knowledge officials of financial regulatory authorities, officials from ministries responsible for SME development and officials from Bankers Assosiation, who are responsible for planning and implementing policies to foster financial systems that contribute to SME development, and to help them solve medium- to long-term problems.
This is the successor to "Necessary Policy Measures for Financial System Including SME Finance in NIS Countries", which was held until FY 2022. In order to meet the needs of a larger number of potential participants, the target countries have been changed to all over the world with the new title.
Economic Policy Collaborative Program between WB and JICA: Assessing and Managing Debt-Related Fiscal Risks Tokyo Center English To present practical methods for striking the right balance in the cost-risk tradeoff of each government debt portfolio, for reducing vulnerability caused by financial risks, and operational risks, JICA will host a program on government risk management in collaboration with the World Bank.

Economic Policy Customs Administration(A) Tokyo Center English With globalization, the role of customs is becoming increasingly important not only in domestic economy but also in international relations. In the past, customs administration was primarily focused on home country issues such as revenue and domestic industry protection. In recent years, however, the expansion of shipping and air transportation, logistical sophistication, trade facilitatoin under WTO rules, and countermeasure of threats to security due to increasing transnational crime have also become important issues for customs administration. This course aims to deepen the knowledge of custom administration field officers on such issues.
Economic Policy International Taxation Tokyo Center English This seminar supports the capacity development of tax administration. Improving domestic capacity for tax and other revenue collection is important for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).The capacity development of tax administrationis essential for that purpose,and will not only strengthen the national financial base, but also contribute to the improvement of the business environment through appropriate tax administration.This seminar was established in 2007 and and is designed for middle-class officials who are engaged in tax examination in international taxation at national tax authorities. Through the Seminar participants are expected to master the knowledge of international taxation and to promote their proper implementation in participating countries. This Seminar provides participants with lectures, discussions and tasks like preparing reports in order to foster the common view throughout each country about the international taxation rule.

It provides participants with lectures on Japanese tax administration as well as discussions and presentation on tax issues faced by the tax authroties in each participating country.Lecturers invited include those of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for an intensive program.
Gender and Development Gender Mainstreaming Policies for Government Officers Kyushu Center English This program aims to enhance capability of the National Machinery, other ministries or administrative bodies to disseminate the perspective of gender mainstreaming and gender equality in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies and plans in various field.
Gender and Development Promotion of Global Networking on Anti-Trafficking in Persons Tokyo Center English Trafficking in Persons (TIP) is a serious human rights violation, and it requires prompt and effective responses in the light of humanity and human security. For eliminating TIP, efforts by one country will not be sufficient to manage the issue completely. It is crucial that related countries and regions cooperate with each other so that they can share good practices and build strong networks. This course aims to promote a global network on anti-TIP through enhancing mutual understanding on practical responses, including the fields of prevention, protection, reintegration, and law enforcement.
Gender and Development Gender and Diversity in Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Tohoku Center English Each participant is expected to understand how to strengthen DRR and climate change adaptation through women's participation by learning problems and good practices from Japan's efforts of related organizations and disaster experience and by sharing examples by participant countries on DRR and climate change adaptation from perspectives of high risk groups of the society (women, children, the elderly, persons with disabilities, etc.)
Gender and Development Promotion of Women's Business and Entrepreneurship in Africa Yokohama Center French In promoting sustainable and high-quality economic growth, it is important to create an environment in which women can demonstrate their abilities and promote equal participation in economic activities. However, in African countries, women are still limited in their access to a variety of resources and opportunities, including markets and financial services, and are unable to fully demonstrate their capabilities. Under these measures, this course will support strengthening of the administrative capabilities of African countries to promote women's entrepreneurship and business, recognizing the power and role of women as economic drivers. This course also promotes understanding of the importance of formulating business and management strategies from the perspective of gender equality and women's engagement, taking into account international trends, JICA Global Agenda "Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment" and its approach "Promotion of Gender Smart Business".
Gender and Development Women's Economic Empowerment through Business in SICA Region Chugoku Center Spanish To introduce to government officials of ministries and agencies supporting women's economic independence in SICA member countries and officials of SICA specialized agencies the efforts of local governments and private companies in Japan, mainly in the Chugoku region, to promote women's economic activities, including the promotion of women's labor and economic participation, support for women entrepreneurs, and the development of work environments in which women can work comfortably. To promote women's economic empowerment in the SICA region and at the national level by sharing initiatives, good practices, and challenges in Japan and SICA member countries/regions.
Gender and Development Eradicating Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) Tokyo Center English This program is to discuss and understand the effective approach to eradicate Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) through prevention, protection of victims, autonomy and social reintegration of victims, and punishment and rehabilitation of perpetrators. It includes to learn the know-how and experiences by public sector and private sector against SGBV in Japan. The participants will develop action plans to enhance the interventions to eradicate SGBV in each country.
Information and Communication Technology(Utilization of ICT) Capacity Building for ICT Project Planning (Ex. e-Government, e-Education, e-Health, e-Agriculture, etc.) (A) Kansai Center English This course helps participants to acquire the practical skill to plan effective ICT projects to solve their countries' social issues (agriculture, education, health etc)and bring innovations, especially in public sector. ICT can be a powerful tool to create innovation, although careful planning is necessary for success. The program includes lectures/workshops on problem solving methods (including problem/financial/stakeholder analysis) , discussions and site visits to check the latest ICT technology and good practices in Japan. This is a hands-on program where participants are expected to make an ICT project plans (as Action Plan) .
Information and Communication Technology(Utilization of ICT) ICT Core Personnel Development(A) Okinawa Center English "Development of human resources for digitalization" is defined as one of the important components in the JICA Global Agenda "Digital for Development", and this program contributes to this effort in building a base for digitalization.
Utilization of ICT is an effective approach for socio-economic development. This program offers practial ICT skills to improve operational efficiency in the organization. Provision of high-quality knowledge including information literacy and policy making to promote DX will elevate skills of participants.

Information and Communication Technology(Utilization of ICT) Capacity Development of Space Technology Utilization for SDGs Tokyo Center English For the government officials and/or other staffs related to the space development and its utilization, this program covers the legal development, the organization, the utilization of satellite data, and the space-related industry promotion, etc., which contribute to the achievement of SDGs. This program is designed to gain a wide range of knowledge and skills on the utilization of space technology as well as the technology development itself. Especially aims to the capacity development of space technology utilization in the filed of administrative activities for achieving SDGs. This program is positioned in JICA Global Agenda "Digital for Development" and addresses Cluster "Solving Problems and Increasing Development Effectiveness by promotion digitalization in each area and field of development" through the analysis and utilization of satellite data.
Information and Communication Technology(Utilization of ICT) Capacity Building in International Law and Policy Formation for Cybersecurity Tokyo Center English This program aims to strengthen and promote cybersecurity measures by capacity building in international law and policy formation for cybersecurity. The targeted officials engaged in cybersecurity policies in developing countries will be provided with opportunities to learn international law and policies on cybersecurity and the measures taken in Japan, to consider how to apply in their own countries. The "cyber security" is defined as an important cluster in JICA Global Agenda "Digital for Development", and this program contributes to building foundation of the safe digital socio-economy.
Information and Communication Technology(Utilization of ICT) Defense Practice Against Cyber Attacks Tokyo Center English In response to increasing numbers of cyber attacks, this program aims to improve incident response capacity of IT professionals/system administrators in target countries. The "cyber security" is defined as an important cluster in JICA Global Agenda "Digital for Development", and this program contributes to building foundation of the safe digital socio-economy.

Information and Communication Technology(Utilization of ICT) Digital Terrestrial TV Broadcasting (DTTB) Policy and Engineering Tokyo Center English This program aims to provide useful knowledge techniques and hints for effective digitalization of TV broadcasting by learning digital broadcasting technology and theories. It also shows examples of actions and solutions taken in Japan to enable smooth switchover. This program is positioned in JICA Global Agenda "Digital for Development" and addresses Cluster "Solving Problems and Increasing Development Effectiveness by promotion digitalization in each area and field of development" through the fast and smooth introduction of digital terrestrial TV broadcasting.
Information and Communication Technology(Utilization of ICT) Enhancement of Postal Infrastructure System Using Digital Technologies Tokyo Center English This program aims to deepen the understanding of the Japanese postal infrastructure system and to improve the ability of formulating and promoting policies to solve issues related to the postal infrastructure system in the participants' countries. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Japan Post, and manufacturers will provide a well-balanced training program on the use of digital technologies to improve the efficiency of postal operations facing the increase in the number of parcels due to the progress of e-commerce. The program will also include a visit to the International Exchange Office, as the international logistics hub, to observe its facilities and operations.
Information and Communication Technology(Utilization of ICT) Socio-Economic Development through Data Management and Utilization Digital Policy Tokyo Center English This program aims to improve the capacity on drafting digital policy with a focus on socio-economic development through data management and utilization. It will promote necessary initiatives in participating countries through lectures and discussions on the development of systems, laws, and mechanisms for secure data flow, examples of cross-border data usage in business, and Japanese case studies on issues such as personal information protection, e-commerce, and data infrastructure development. In addition, it will cover the concept of Data Free Flow with Trust ("DFFT") and related international initiatives.
Evaluation Capacity Building for Evaluation Design, Implementation and System Institutionalization Kansai Center English Evaluation is highly important to conduct better policy, measures, project formulation and project implementation by utilizing lessons obtained from the past, and to ensure accountability to their stakeholders. Through this KCCP, participants are expected to enhance their capacity of evaluation design and to build evaluation system by learning JICA's project evaluation, policy evaluation, design, implementation methodologies and system of the evaluation.

In Japan, skipjack tuna has been utilized for centuries and constitutes an integral part of local economy. The program will be conducted in Kochi prefecture, one of major production areas of skipjack tuna in Japan, focusing on such topics as the industry-academia-government partnership for local economy development, information-based resource management, and creation of "Sato-umi" for co-existence of people and nature.
Agricultural Development Animal Infectious Disease Control and Veterinary Services in Livestock Farms Hokkaido Center (Obihiro) English Around 20 per cent of livestock production is lost due to animal diseases every year, leading to an estimated annual economic loss of about US$ 300 billion. This is an important threat to rural livelihoods, food security and nutrition worldwide. Veterinary authorities in developing countries, however, have difficulty in surveillance loop for control of such animal diseases, in which incidents shall be detected, reported, analyzed, and responded. In Japan, the concept of NbS has existed for a long time, and the country has historically worked to balance economic development and conservation of the natural environment. Wetland ecosystems provide diverse benefits for social issues such as natural disaster prevention and mitigation, water security, ecosystem conservation, agriculture and fisheries, and climate change countermeasures (including carbon sequestration in peatlands). In this training course, participants learn about NbS case studies for various social issues focusing on the benefits of wetland ecosystems, mainly in Kushiro Wetland, and aim to improve the ability of government officials and others in developing countries to plan solutions to social issues in their countries through NbS.

Environmental Management Capacity Development for Progression of Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement Tsukuba Center English The "Paris Agreement" was adopted at the COP21 in 2015 to deal with climate change that poses a threat to the entire world, and will start operation in January 2020. all Contracting Parties will implement climate change countermeasures based on the "Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC)" that they have created, and monitor the progress and results.
However many developing countries have limitations in formulating NDC plans, ensuring transparency, and developing capacity for implementing activities in their own countries, and require support from other countries.
This training aims at national organizations in charge of planning and implementing NDC in climate change countermeasures (mitigation measures) in developing countries, and is capable of formulating and implementing NDC under the Paris Agreement, based on Japan's experience.

Environmental Management Enhancing Access to Climate Finance: Theory and Aapplication for Practitioners Tsukuba Center English A large amount of finance is needed to tackle with climate change in developing countries. Among several climate finance, i.e. Adaptation Fund (AF), Global Environment Facility (GEF), Green Climate Fund (GCF), which now became a biggest climate financial mechanism, was set in 2010 within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), as an operating entity of the financial mechanism. Only Accredited Entities (AEs) have an access to GCF funding, and 97 AEs have been approved by GCF, including JICA (as of May 2020). GCF has approved 129 projects (as of May 2020), of which 17 projects were formulated and submitted by Direct Access Entities (DAEs), and GCF encourages DAEs to formulate projects.

On the other hand, it is pointed out that the establishment of an appropriate maintenance, operation and management of facilities and the rehabilitation/repair of aged facilities have become big issues to be solved. It is required to reinforce planning competence of officials for improvement of legal systems and operation management system and consideration of climate change for sustainable and effective use of irrigation facilities.

Environmental Management Sustainable Solid Waste Management for African Countries (B) Yokohama Center French Many African cities face the problem of limited solid waste collection service and inappropriate disposal, due to the rapid urbanization and increasing its population. For African countries to sustain appropriate solid waste management (SWM) on their own, the improvement of financial sustainability is the key. On the other hand, the SDGs set targets to promote appropriate SWM to improve the sanitary environment in cities. Based on this, each country needs to set a national target and conduct own initiatives. This course is conducted as a part of "African Clean Cities Platform" which promotes appropriate SWM as a follow up of TICAD 6 and in line with "JICA Clean City Initiative", which is the Global Agenda in environmental management sector.
This course aims to clarify the issues and enhance capacity of SWM and financial sustainability. Through the above, participants will formulate action plans towards sustainable SWM. Also Good practices and experiences will be shared.
Environmental Management Basics of Solid Waste Management (B) Kansai Center English From practical examples of Japan, participants will learn appropriate processing technology of solid wastes (Ex.Reduction of discharge, collection, transportation, disposal, citizen participation and 3R etc.) and find an applicable techniques which fits the individual issues of the participating countries. Environmental Management High Level Seminar on JICA Clean City Initiative (JCCI) (B) Kyushu Center English "JICA Clean City Initiative" is the JICA's Global Agenda in environmental management, under which JICA aims to contribute to building a sustainable society that realizes healthy environment to protect the health and living circumstances of people in developing countries through appropriate environmental regulations and pollution control on waste management as well as water and air quality.
This one week high level seminar is for senior management of central ministries or local governments in major cities in charge of environmental management. The program consists of sessions on "environmental pollution/health damage risk", "multi-stakeholder collaboration", "sustainable financial base" and site visits including introduction of technology of private companies. Issues such as "plastic waste treatment", "material-cycle society", and "climate change" are also discussed. Participants will share their experiences and build networks among participants.
Water Resources Participatory Management of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for Rural Areas in African Countries (B) Kyushu Center English Ensuring safe water is an urgent challenge in developing countries as shown in SDG Goal 6 'Access to Clean Water and Sanitation'. In order to secure an access to safe drinking water (SDGs6.1) and adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene (SDG6.2) in rural communities, it is essential to make sustainable operation and maintenance (O&M) of water and sanitation facilities such as deep wells and handwashing facility, in active participation and cooperation with the community residents. This course focuses on African countries where accessible rate to safe water is low in developing countries and securing water resources remains as tough challenge. This program aims to confirm basic techniques for the proper water supply, O&M system of facilities and improvement of WASH service in rural areas, and to advance necessary knowledge for ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation including a participatory and gender-sensitive O&M system in rural communities.
Water Resources Comprehensive Engineering on Water Supply Systems (B) Hokkaido Center (Sapporo) English This program is designed for core engineers of medium or large waterworks to learn overall skill and knowledge related to planning, designing, and operation and maintenance to supply safe and stable drinking water. Participants are requested to clarify the issues of their organizations and formulate an action plan for future activities by utilizing knowledge obtained through this program. It is part of the Urban Water Supply Cluster, which aims to increase the number of "growing water utilities" that can independently finance and expand and improve their water services, as part of the Sustainable Water Supply Global Agenda, which aims to achieve universal access to safe water as set out in Target 6 of the SDGs.
Water Resources Administration and Management of Water Supply Services (B) Tokyo Center English This course is designed for executive officers of water supply administration or waterworks bureau to share experience
in Japan on administration for safe and stable water supply such as regulation, O&M, water quality control,
countermeasures for non-revenue water, and PIs. This course focuses on "sound management of waterworks" through
lectures and discussions with executives/experts related to waterworks in Japan.

They are expected to identify the issues and formulate feasible action plan for the solution.
Urban/Regional Development Urban Management for Sustainable Urban Development (B) Kyushu Center Spanish With the view to implement urban plans, this program aims at developing participants' urban management capacity for sustainable urban development, such as PPP and PFI, with the use of experiences and know-how of Japanese municipalities as examples. The program also aims at improving participants' capacities for sustainable urban planning by leveraging Japanese policies and initiatives.
