Kayashima Nobuko , Senior Research Advisor, JICA Ogata Research Institute, is the first editor of the book. She has commented upon the book winning this award. “In this research project, a questionnaire survey was sent to faculty members of higher education institutions in four ASEAN member states and responses were collected from as many as 3,300 faculty members. From this large data set, we were able to gather many useful findings and policy implications. I sincerely hope that these will contribute in some way to higher education policies in the ASEAN region as well as to Japan’s policy on inbound international students. The large-scale survey, data analysis and writing for this book were completed thanks to the scholars who participated in this research project from Japan and the ASEAN region. I am truly grateful for their participation.”
