Project for improving cocoa value chain in Ghana

Project Outline The objective of the Project is to increase incomes of cocoa farmers, to develop capacities of local cocoa processors, and to stabilize macro economy through gaining more revenue dominated in foreign currencies in Ghana by implementing Productivity Enhancement Program (PEPs). PEPs, which are implemented by Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), consist of installing small irrigation systems, replanting diseased and aged cocoa trees, constructing warehouses, introducing database system, providing working capital facility to local cocoa processors, and promoting local cocoa consumption. PEPs aim at increasing productivity of cocoa related industries, improving logistics relevant to cocoa, and enhancing productivity of cocoa processors.
