Categorization
This Study aims to formulate an agriculture development Master Plan which contributes to social and economic development by engaging private investment to promote sustainable production systems, and poverty reduction for small scale farmers in Nacala Corridor.
This study itself does not propose any specific project. However, the contents of the study are so broadly. If the Master Plan is formulated without considering environmental and social aspects, negative impacts such as competition for water resource and environmental pollution are likely to arise. For example, irrigation development promotes farm production during dry season. It means possible increase in usage of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. As a result, over usage of those chemicals may cause negative impacts such as water pollution, soil degradation and so on. Therefore, this Study is thought to be category B.
