Education Early Childhood Development (Asia) JICA Chugoku English The objective is to develop action plans that aim to improve the access & quality of ECD in participating countries. Participants are expected to:1)learn the concepts & approaches of ECD in Japan that put great emphasis on children's spontaneity;2)share with fellow participants their country's ECD practices and issues so to facilitate mutual learning. This Program would be linked to JOCV activities.
Education Early Childhood Care and Education with Regional Focus on Africa and the Middle East JICA Tokyo English This program recognizes early childhood education and ECD as an effective way of poverty reduction, and emphasizes not only educational but also nutritional and health aspects of ECD. The program aims to contribute to quality improvement of early childhood education and ECD in participating countries by sharing the experience and knowledge of early childhood care and education in Japan.
Education Overcoming "Learning Crisis" in Middle East: Educational Administration, Finance and School Management in a Best Performing Prefecture in Japan -Ishikawa JICA Hokuriku Arabic To achieve SDGs and to address the "learning crisis",it is becoming more common to disburse international financial assistance upon comprehensive policy reform and its implementation. This course present Japanese practices attempting to ensure learning at school, and how education administration and finance support them.
Education Quality Physical Education in School Education JICA Tsukuba English As stated in "International Charter of Physical Education and Sport" (UNESCO, 1978), access to physical education(PE) and sports is regarded as one of the basic human rights, while developing countries are facing various difficulties. This course focuses on dissemination and quality improvement of PE at schools through introduction of Japanese experience and discussions among participatory countries.
Education Improvement of Basic Calculation Skill JICA Kansai English One of the reasons for low performance in mathematics and science is considered as insufficient mastery of basic calculation skills. This program will allow participants to understand Japan's experience in learning and teaching basic calculation skills at lower primary level. Participants will be required to develop an action plan to improve these skills in their countries upon returning from Japan.
Education Improvement of Quality of Education through Lesson Study JICA Hokuriku English This training is designed for the personnel in the primary and/or junior secondary education fields (pedagogical inspector, school adviser, instructor or professor of INSET/PRESET Inst, head or senior teacher) to acquire deeper understanding and facilitation skill of Lesson Study, and it also encourages the establishment of network within the participated countries for improvement of quality of education.
Education Ensuring Quality Learning through Enhanced School Management -From the Perspective of Community- Wide Collaboration JICA Shikoku English Participants learn practical method of improving the function of school management committee with community participation for enhancing access and quality of primary education (especially basic academic skills of children on mathematics and literacy). After this course at each country, participants are expected to conduct training for school and community based on the method they acquire in this program.
Education Mathematics Curriculum Development at Primary Level JICA Chugoku English This program aims at strengthening the capacity for mathematics curriculum development through learning the process of curriculum development and analyzing mathematics curriculum of own country. Through this course, participants are expected to be able to identify the challenges in developing curriculum and propose a ten-year plan encompassing assessment and development of specialists.
Education Improvement of Quality Teaching and Evaluation Methodology in Primary Science and Mathematics for Sub-Saharan Africa JICA Chugoku English This program aims to foster core personnel who provides quality education in primary science and mathematics as a foundation for science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) education.
Education Leadership Training on Improvement of Teaching Method for Science Education for Francophone Countries in Africa JICA Shikoku French This program is designed for inspectors and trainers who are expected to take leadership to manage teacher training and instruct teachers' lesson improvement in order to improve teachers' teaching method for science education to respond high demand on improvement of teachers' pedagogy performance in Francophone Africa.
Education Improvement of Quality of Mathematics Education in Primary and Secondary Education JICA Chugoku Spanish This program is to understand comprehensively how mathematic education is conducted in Japan. Including education system, teaching method, curriculum development, material studies, textbook development, assessment (examination), etc., it is targeted to improve the quality of primary and secondary mathematic education comprehensively within three years.
Education Promotion of Non-Formal Education JICA Tohoku English In Japan, a range of learning opportunities, which is equivalent to regular schooling, is provided outside the regular school targeting school-aged and adults having difficulties in schooling due to various reasons including poverty, bullying, ethnicity, etc..

Similarly, civil organizations proactively organize a variety of lifelong learning course and events. Private firms also provide a variety of learning opportunities outside the regular school system, for example, they run schools to support OOSC to obtain Certificate for Students Achieving the Proficiency Level of Upper Secondary School Graduates and or other professional certificates set by government. This present program aims to facilitate understanding of the participants, regarding how public, private and civil society are collaborating through provision of learning opportunities outside the regular school (Non-formal education), toward zero learning exclusion, involving.
Education Capacity Development for the Education Policy Formulation and Analysis for Learning Improvement JICA Chugoku English To strengthen the capacity for education policy formulation and analysis in the priority countries for basic education so that the education policy framework becomes evidence-based and is produced by involving various stakeholders, which will lead to an improvement of the PDCA cycle in education policymaking.
Education Education Administration for Reducing Disparities in Basic Education JICA Okinawa English Many developing countries are still facing difficulties in providing equal level of basic education within its country for many reasons such as lacking of human resource, budget, equipment and facilities. Especially, regional disparities between urban and rural/remote areas are serious because of low accessibility to schools and inadequate deployment of teachers. Okinawa Prefecture is also remote islands far from main land of Japan. This local government addressed to take measures for improvement on education problems in its remote area. In addition, Okinawa has an experience of reconstruction after the World War II, where used to be suffering from poor conditions with insufficient number of teachers, teaching materials and facilities.

This course aims to introduce successful experiences in Japan and Okinawa Prefecture and provide participants keys to solve issues and problems of disparities in basic education.
Education Improvement of Education in Remote Areas - For the Achievement of SDGs JICA Hokkaido (Obihiro) English In most of the developing countries approaching close to achieve universal primary education, there still remains a challenge to provide education to children living in remote areas. Japanese policies and experiences to redress the disparities between remote areas and other areas with collaborative efforts of public sectors and local communities could be applicable to improve these situations.
Education Strengthening Inclusive Education Practice for Children with Disabilities-Lesson Planning to Support All Children JICA Tsukuba Spanish Recent year, Japan promotes the Inclusive Education System, considering each special needs for children. This program shows Japan's experience in Inclusive Education/Special Needs Education.
Education Strengthening Inclusive Education System for Children with Disabilities-For Learning and Living Together- JICA Yokohama English Japan has been aiming to set an educational system which makes it possible to provide an environment for all children to learn together in the same classroom, while flexibly adjusting the system so as to provide a variety of places in order to meet the individual educational needs. In this program, participants who are engaged in policy planning will learn about Japan's education system for children with disabilities, especially focucing on the process of creating Inclusive Education System utilizing Special Needs Education, thus considering ways to utilize the knowledge gained during the course into thier own Inclusive Education System.
Education Upgrading the Pre-Service Primary Teacher Education and Training-Change the Teacher, Change the Future!- JICA Tohoku English Intended for officials and university teacher and researchers with over 3 years of experience in teacher training to improving issues(system, curriculum, course, practice) on teacher training.

Participants are required to obtain abilities of to hold those activities after training course.
Education Development of Advanced Industrial Human Resource through Japanese Style Engineering Education JICA Chubu Russian This program contributes to strengthen the development of advanced industrial human resources in Central Asia through the practical Japanese style engineering education including the teaching methods, curriculum, university-industry-government collaboration and so on. It is designed for government officials at concerned ministries and faculty members at universities and colleges of technology in charge of Higher Education and Engineering Education.
Education Development of Human Resources Adaptable to Industry Needs in Electrical and Electronic Engineering -For Instructors/Teachers in University, Polytech College and Diploma Courses of TVET Institutions- JICA Kyushu English To develop human resources who can integrate the gaps between education and actual technology in industry by enhancing practical teaching capacity in vocational school, polytechnic-school, technical college and high school. The purpose is to solve problem of "missing middle" in the developing countries by means of HRD in electrical and electronic engineering which is a main social infrastructure.

Education Human Resources Development Administration JICA Yokohama English Vocational Training is one of the most important issues for socio-economic development in many developing countries. This program aims to introduce the current situation of occupational skill development administration in Japan, and to provide opportunities to analyze the current issues and improve occupational skills administration.
Social Security Promotion of Social Participation of Persons with Disabilities through Sports  JICA Tohoku English This training aims to develop the participants' knowledge and skills on how to utilize sports for persons with disabilities and inclusive sports, including how to adjust facilities and devices to cater to different types of impairments, with an attention to the function of sports that empowers them and promotes their social participation through the interaction between persons with and without disabilities.This training is divided into A course and B course. A is implemented in English at JICA Tohoku and B is implemented in Russia at JICA Obihiro.

Social Security Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities in Community Activities JICA Tokyo English Participants of this program will analyze the situation of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their countries, learn the current situation of Japan, analyze the "Community-based approach" to promote social participation of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and formulate/implement an action plan to improve the situation of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in respective countries.
Social Security Capacity Development of Leaders with Disabilities for UNCRPD (UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities) Implementation (A) JICA Tokyo English UNCRPD has been ratified by 182 countries and regional integration organizations by October 2020. In many developing countries, the development of laws and systems based on the UNCRPD is an urgent task, and persons with disabilities are expected to play an active role in the process. This course aims to strengthen the capacity of leaders with disabilities in contributing to the UNCRPD implementation.

Social Security Occupational Safety and Health - From Policy Development to Implementation Measures - JICA Tokyo English Industrial accidents have been emerging. It is urgently required to formulate and implement appropriate policies of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in many countries. The main purpose of this program is to introduce the history and policy of OSH in Japan, especially to those facing rapid industrialization and contribute to the improvement of policies of OSH of participating countries.
Health Improvement of Women's and Children's Health for French-Speaking African Countries -Focusing on Care for Pregnant Women and Newborn Babies- (For Government Officials) JICA Tokyo French Quality and quantity of both public health and clinical care need to be improved regarding maternal and child health in Africa.

This program introduces Japanese public health interventions and practices at health facilities so that the participants are to be able to consider practical countermeasures to improve health and well-being of every woman and every child at their administrative areas.
Health Evidence-Based Public Health Planning JICA Okinawa English This program is designed to help participants and their agencies introduce and use evidence-based approaches, with quantitative and qualitative analysis, in health planning and health policy development.
Health Quality Improvement of Health Services through KAIZEN Approach JICA Tokyo English This program aims at strengthening the knowledge, analytical skills and leadership of the officials responsible for improvement of quality of health services with special focus on KAIZEN. This course offers lectures and site visits of lending hospitals in Japan and also provides an opportunity to share the progress and challenges that participants face in each country.
Health Strengthening Social Health Protection Towards Universal Health Coverage JICA Tokyo English While Japan established UHC system in 1961, hard and continuous efforts such as the creation of insurance premium collection system to achieve and maintain UHC have been made. While the situations in respective countries may differ, the UHC policy responses made in Japan in the process of economic growth and maturity can give guidance to countries facing similar problems.
Health Health Systems Management-Leadership and Governance JICA Tokyo English This program is designed for middle level managers expected to become policymakers in the future, and aims to strengthen six 'building blocks' of Health Systems defined by WHO, especially leadership/governance. This program will not go into the technical details of each sub-sectors, but place emphasis on the improvement of the managerial capacity which enables effective health administration.
Health Health Policy Development and Implementation toward UHC -An Introduction to Japan's Achievements and Challenges JICA Tokyo English This program aims to provide new perspective to the policymakers at central and local governments, by sharing Japanese achievements and challenges on health policy development including the achievement of UHC, as well as encouraging mutual learning among participants through the comparison of the policies/initiatives of each countries.
Health Health Systems Management for Regional and District Health Management Officers JICA Hokkaido (Sapporo) English Japanese local regions have experienced improving health services under the condition where insufficient numbers of medical facilities are unevenly located and required to serve for sparsely distributed population in large areas.

Through learning these experiences and  system of the regional health administration in Japan, participants will make concrete action plan to improve their own services.
Health Ending TB in the Era of Universal Health Coverage toward Sustainable Development Goals JICA Tokyo English The End TB Strategy and SDGs aim to end TB epidemic, which requires multi-sectorial approach by providing the integrated TB care and prevention in the context of UHC. Furthermore, the provision of the high quality TB care and prevention is essential to achieve UHC. Through this training course, participants will be able to contribute to strengthen the national TB control program as well as UHC.
Health Ending TB and AMR in the Era of UHC - Hands-on Knowledge and Skill Development for Laboratory Leaders- JICA Tokyo English The End TB Strategy and SDGs aim to end TB epidemic, which requires to provide TB care and prevention in the context of UHC and address drug-resistance TB and AMR (anti-microbial resistance) through multi-sectorial approach. This training course allows participant to learn knowledge and skills for TB laboratory management and TB examination so that they can contribute to their national TB control programs.
Health Clinical Laboratory Technology; Clinical Microbiology for the Diagnosis of Infectious Diseases Including Emerging and Re-emerging Infections JICA Tokyo English This program is designed for laboratory technologists engaged in clinical examination in national/local core hospitals or laboratories collaborating with the diagnosis department, aiming at proper diagnosis and strengthening laboratory network in each country. Its contents include the latest knowledge and skills on antimicrobial resistance, one of the pillars in G7 Ise-Shima Vision for Global Health in 2016 and the latest knowledge on emerging infections such as COVID-19.
Health Strengthening Laboratory Techniques and Surveillance System for Global Control of HIV and Related Infectious Diseases JICA Tokyo English HIV/AIDS is one of the major infectious diseases. This course is the only "knowledge co-creation program" that focus on HIV/AIDS, which contains the necessary laboratory techniques for diagnosis, monitoring, and follow-up towards global control of HIV/AIDS. The course will be conducted at National Institute of Infectious Diseases in Japan.
Health Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare-Associated Infections Control JICA Tokyo English Participants shall have opportunities to understand the key components of antimicrobial resistance and healthcare associated infection control measures which are "principles and practices", "Establishment of the system" and "Behavioral modification of health care workers" through this program. It is expected that their experiences will impact positively and strengthen a more resilient health system.
Health Field Epidemiology to Strengthen the Preparedness for the Severe Infectious Disease Outbreaks (for Managers) JICA Kyushu English To strengthen the preparedness for the severe infectious disease outbreak,participants take lectures and discuss on the recognition of the outbreak, effective infectious disease control, epidemiological survey for both recognizing the outline of the outbreak and evaluating the infecious risk, analysing the developing process and prevention measures.

Health Improvement of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support System (kokoro-no-care) in Disaster Situation  JICA Kansai English The program targets to establish a mental health and psychosocial support system (MHPSS, or kokoro-no-care system in Japan), which is suitable for each country, by learning psychosocial support approaches for people with psychological stress and trauma by disasters.
Health Management of Disaster Medicine for Latin American Countries JICA Kansai Spanish Overall goal of this program is that management system of administrative organizations and medical services in disaster will be improved in each Latin American country, which contributes to mutual collaboration and formulation of network between the participating countries.  
Health Perinatal and Neonatal Health Care JICA Kansai English This program is aimed for senior obstetricians or senior pediatricians, and chief nurses or chief midwives working for central and regional core hospitals in the field of perinatal, neonatal and child health care to understand how to improve mother and child health care service in collaboration with their community in each participant's country.
Health Improvement of Maternal Health JICA Tokyo English SDGs Goal 3 aims to "Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages" including improvement of maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH). This program aims to strengthen strategies to reinforce "Continuum of Care" at a community level to contribute to improve MNCH. Participants will develop an action plan to strengthen the existing programs/strategies to ensure "Continuum of Care" at the community level.
Health School Health JICA Chubu English This program aims at establishing or strengthening of a school health system which is best suited to each country. Concrete school health activities are planned based on school health policy, system, and activities in Japan. Improved learning environment and students' health maintenance will lead to better school enrollment rate and school dropout prevention.

Health Promotion and Technical Improvement of Team Medical Care in Perinatal Care JICA Kyushu English Comprehensively understand the regional cooperation on perinatal care, multidisciplinary efforts on cooperation that has been deployed in Miyazaki Prefecture, and by experience the commitment to improvement and maintain of perinatal medical technology, to examine safety perinatal medical care, measures related to the practice of infection control and team medical care in participating countries.
Health Improvement of Maternal and Child Nutrition JICA Hokkaido (Obihiro) English This course is designed for SUN (Scaling Up Nutrition) member countries to strengthen the knowledge and capacity necessary for planning, implementing and conducting the maternal and child nutrition improvement programs. This course aims to provide insight on global nutrition trends and effective strategy/ measures from Japan and participating countries for maternal and child nutrition improvement which likewise contribute to measures against Covid19 and/or other newly emerging infectious diseases (EID)
Health Continuum of Care for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) and UHC JICA Tokyo English UHC ensures all people have an access to quality health services without financial hardship. Under SDGs target 3.8,achieving UHC by 2030 is an important goal agreed by international community. The promotion of the Continuum of Care(CoC)of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) is one of the core areas in the achievement of UHC and SDGs. Participants will learn how Japan has been promoting CoC and UHC in Japan's health systems through a series of lectures, discussion and site visits to MNCH service facilities at national and local government levels. Then participants will reflect the learning from the program, and develop an action plan that is feasible and applicable in their respective countries. Upon return to each home country, participants are expected to have a discussion on how to implement the action plan among their colleagues and relevant stakeholders.
Health Medical Equipment Management and Maintenance (A) JICA Tohoku English Human resource development for management and maintenance of medical equipment is the key to sustain quality medical service in development countries. Targeting countries with challenges in basic management of medical equipment, this course will provide basic knowledge and techniques of medical equipment management and maintenance to raise the quality of healthcare.

Among several climate finance, i.e. Adaptation Fund (AF), Global Environment Facility (GEF), Green Climate Fund (GCF), which now became a biggest climate financial mechanism, was set in 2010 within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), as an operating entity of the financial mechanism. Only Accredited Entities (AEs) have an access to GCF funding, and 97 AEs have been approved by GCF, including JICA (as of May 2020). GCF has approved 129 projects (as of May 2020), of which 17 projects were formulated and submitted by Direct Access Entities (DAEs), and GCF encourages DAEs to formulate projects.

Based on SFDRR, this program introduces effective methods and initiatives in each phase of the disaster management cycle (Response, Recovery, Mitigation, and Preparedness) by administrative agencies and the civil community and  helps participants develop an execution plan especially in the field of disaster mitigation and preparation to build a natural disaster resilient society.

Disaster Risk Reduction Volcanic Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for Central and South American Countries JICA Hokkaido (Sapporo) Spanish Although volcanic disasters occur less frequently, the damage strikes widely once it happens. While infrastructure developments, for example erosion control dams, are indispensable, it is more crucial to take other measures such as monitoring volcanic activities and developing hazard maps, in terms of the scale of catastrophe.
Even though there are numerous active volcanos, there is a distinct lack for experts in Central and South America, in addition, the significance of human resource development for volcanic disaster risk management is not fully recognised, and general populations have a poor sense of volcanic disasters.
Japan has many active volcanos similarly to Central and South America, and has much experience with volcano monitoring and disaster risk management that can be shared; recently there has been no severe volcanic activity in Japan, so there is a desire to have an opportunity to learn how to deal with volcanic disasters from other countries' experience.
Disaster Risk Reduction Improvement of Disaster Education System JICA Kansai English This program is offered to officials of public organizations responsible for planning and administration of disaster education, through learning concept and activities of DRR education in Japan and share the background and process of establishment. Learn different cases from the lessons learned from the disaster areas in various parts of Japan for the purpose of strengthening DRR education program at all times and supporting schools affected by disasters. The purpose is to improve not only DRR education methods in their own countries, but also application and utilization methods that contribute to system design, and to improve disaster management education systems (plans) in respective countries.
Disaster Risk Reduction Sustainable Coastal Protection Measures at Island Countries JICA Okinawa English This training is for costal engineer and transfers technique on coastal protection. The participants can gain not only good practice but also case of failure on coastal protection in Japan. Basic idea of coastal protection and both structural and non structural measures will be introduced in order to apply those knowledge and technique in participant countries.
Disaster Risk Reduction Strategic Utilization of Hydro-meteorological Data Observation Technology JICA Kansai English This program is designed for managerial officials to obtain and understand meanings, basic knowledge of technology and knowhow of the hydro-meteorological data observation as well as analytical technique and applied technology. In Japan, technology of flood control and water utilization has been developed based on the long-term observation and accumulated hydro-meteorological data.
Disaster Risk Reduction Dam Safety Management JICA Tsukuba English Japan has various knowledge on inspection to maintain the functions of dams and ensure their safety, as well as on dam upgrading to improve the functions of existing dams. The purpose of this training is to strengthen the practical ability and judgmental skills related to improving the safety and functions of dams in each country by learning about Japanese technologies for safety, operation improvement, and upgrading through lectures, practical training, and site visits. In addition, the trainees are expected to apply the knowledge gained in the training to their work after returning to their home countries, and to acquire abilities equivalent to field office managers responsible for maintenance, safety management, etc. of the dam (director level at the dam management office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan) in the future.
