The Knowledge Co-Creation Program

What is KCCP ?

The Knowledge Co-Creation Program(KCCP) is a human resource development program that JICA carries out in Japan for developing countries. It plays an essential role of the technical cooperation under the Japan’s Official Development Assistance(ODA).

JICA accepts approximately 8,000 participants from about 140 countries every year and KCCP covers a wide range of areas such as governance, urban and regional development, health and medicine, education, environment management, peacebuilding and social security, natural resources and energy, disaster management and so on.

This Program began in 1954, the same year JICA’s international cooperation activities were launched. To reflect Japan’s “co-creating” approach, the program was renamed “The Knowledge Co-Creation Program” in 2015. The term “co-creation” refers to building reciprocal relationships between Japan and the participating countries in where both sides learn from each other and develop together.

What aims for?

1. To contribute to solving issues in developing countries through human resource development by KCCP.
2. To contribute to the promotion of mutual understanding and friendship to achieve a better world together.

The knowledge and expertise that the participants acquire in Japan strengthen societies, economies and improve the lives of individuals in our partner countries. Furthermore, participants with knowledge of and affinity for Japan are expected to bridge Japan and partner countries.
