The world is becoming increasingly unstable, currently facing a number of compound crises such as poverty, inequality, climate change, conflicts and terrorism, and infectious diseases. Given such a situation, the importance of international cooperation has never been greater.
We at JICA are emphasizing activities that involve travel to the site of cooperation as part of achieving our vision of “Leading the world with trust .” Precious lives have been lost of those committed to international cooperation in the midst of this important work. We are constantly mindful of those lives, and hereby declare our dedication to promoting the following security initiatives so that such painful events will not be repeated.
1. Prioritizing Human Life
We promote international cooperation projects that give the highest priority to the lives and security of those involved. To accomplish this, we constantly collect information to make timely and appropriate decisions and responses.
2. Optimizing Security Initiatives
While emphasizing on-site activities, we constantly make improvements to ensure the most appropriate security measures are in place during both normal times and emergencies.
3. Fostering a Sense of Ownership
We encourage improved awareness of security and specific changes to behavior, enabling those involved in international cooperation projects to see security measures as “their own business,” so as to accumulate such measures with a strong awareness of crisis management on a daily basis.
