Project Outline The objective of the Project is to enhance capacity of State Governments, Mumbai Corporation, Urban Development Authorities and National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited to plan development of surrounding areas around Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail stations by i) conducting seminars, workshop and training in Japan and India regarding Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and station area development; ii) preparation of station area development plans for 4 model stations namely Thane, Virar, Surat and Sabarmati including revision of macro level or higher level urban plan and iii) preparation of station area development handbook containing experiences methodologies adopted in Japan, India and other countries for TOD and station area development.
