We screen the material at the exhibition in JICA Chubu Nagoya Global Plaza
JICA Chubu Nagoya Global Plaza. The exhibition is held near the entrance.
In JICA Chubu Nagoya Global Plaza, we hold the exhibition of “PEACE-For secure life-” from December 26th, 2024, to May 18th, 2025
This exhibition introduces JICA’s cooperation with people around the world aiming for the realization of a world where everyone lives a secure life with their dignity and rights protected under any circumstances.
We displayed the JICA-Net multimedia-based learning material, “The current situation of Trafficking in Persons and JICA's support” (Digest ver.) (YouTube, external link)
, by screening it on the digital photo frame at one of the exhibition corners to introduce JICA’s efforts against human trafficking to visitors.
Introduce JICA’s countermeasures to human trafficking in Mekong region
Human trafficking deeply affects victims psychologically, emotionally, and physically.
In the Mekong region, along with rapid globalization, economic development is advancing while the damage done by human trafficking increases.
Based on this background, JICA has taken various countermeasures to human trafficking in Mekong region.
“The Current Situation of Trafficking in Persons and JICA's Support” explains the circumstances and the cases of human trafficking in the Mekong region and introduces JICA’s three projects.
Through “Project on Strengthening of Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) for Protection of Trafficked Persons in Thailand”, JICA cooperated with “Live Our Lives”, which is the facility that provide resettlement support for former victims of human trafficking.
JICA also has implemented the “Project on Capacity Improvement of Recovery and Reintegration Assistance for Trafficked Persons” in Myanmar and the “Project for the Establishment of Anti-Trafficking in Persons Hotline” in Vietnam.
Activities of “Live Our Lives” in Thailand. Several former victims of human trafficking carry out awareness campaigns to people at schools on how to avoid getting caught and being the victim of human trafficking.
To attract middle and high-school students’ interest
The exhibition is divided into themes, which are devised in a way to attract visitors’ interest.
The exhibition is divided into themes such as “Law”, “Election”, “Refugees”, and “Human Trafficking”, for which we made quizzes to make it more approachable and displayed photographs and illustrations on panels.
The material’s advantage of being video material is to show the actual site, which is difficult to convey with the panels alone, especially, the expressions of people who work on the project and students’ appearances at the local site.
Also, as many visitors include middle and high-school students, another advantage is that the material showing people of the same generation is more likely to attract their interest.
Actually, we received a comment from a high-school student who visited the exhibition: “I thought human trafficking occurred only in manga, but seeing the exhibition, and viewing the video, I was surprised to know that it occurred in the real world. There are many issues in the world. First of all, I would like to think what I can do.”
The subtitles in the material are also useful to the exhibition because the sound volume was not allowed to be turned up enough to be listened to indoors.
