JICA established the ‘Objection Procedures based on the Guidelines for Environmental and Social Considerations' (Objection Procedures) to ensure its compliance with the ‘Guidelines for Environmental and Social Considerations' (the Guidelines) and assigned Examiners for the Guidelines (Examiners) who are independent from the project management and report directly to the JICA President.
JICA is conducting the review of the Objection Procedures in concurrence with the review of the Guidelines, taking into consideration the opinions given and evaluation made by the users and the Examiners as stated in the Objection Procedures (16. Review of the Procedures and Interim Provisions). In addition, JICA seeks inputs from the public and will consult the Advisory Committee comprised of academics, private sector/organizations, NGOs, and government officials. With this regard, JICA invites opinions and evaluations on the Objection Procedures as follows:
1. Eligibility:
Anyone who is interested in JICA's activities and its Environmental and Social Considerations can submit their opinions/evaluations on the Objection Procedures.
2. Submission period:
From 26 November 2020 to 11 January 2021 (closing date)
3. Language: English or Japanese.
(N.B. For countries in which Request to Raise Objection has been accepted and the Procedure was commenced, i.e. Myanmar and Mozambique, JICA will accept and consider opinions/evaluations submitted in their local languages.)
