Holding the Handover Ceremony For Verification Survey with the Private Sector for Disseminating Japanese Technologies For Improving the Output of Existing Gas Turbine with Inlet Air Cooling System In Islamic Republic of Iran

Cooling System handover ceremony in the framework of "Verification Survey with the Private Sector for Disseminating Japanese Technologies for Improving the Output of Existing Gas Turbine with Inlet Air Cooling System in the Islamic Republic of Iran" was held on May 12, 2019 with the participation of relevant authorities from Embassy of Japan in Islamic Republic of Iran, JICA Iran Office, JICA Study Team (consist of Ikeuchi & Co., LTD and Pacific Consultants International), Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPHC), Shahid Rajaei Electric Power Generation Company and Shahid Rajaee Power Generation Management.

This survey has been conducted since February 2018 in the framework of SME Support Program of JICA in which JICA acts as a bridge to link the Japanese SMEs with the Iranian partners who need Japans' highly developed technological resources.

Ikeuchi Co., ltd. (Osaka, Japan) has an outstanding advantage in Fog technology that plays a significant role in quality improvements of electronic device manufacturing and printing. Utilizing this unique technology, this Survey aims to verify effectiveness of the Inlet Air Cooling System for improving the output of existing gas turbine utilizing Ikeuchi's Fog system in order to recover power output which tends to fall in summer season and balance the energy demand and supply in the country's energy sector in Iran.

JICA Team has completed the installation of Inlet Air Cooling System aims to verify effectiveness of the Cooling System consists of the nozzles, pumps and control units in 2 gas combines cycle generator turbines of Shahid Rajaee Power Plant and handed it over to Iranian side. This system enable to spray automatically appropriate volume of water as a function of outside air temperature and humidity with "hydraulic nozzles (LYOHM Nozzles)" with atomization in the worlds' highest-level fineness and performance.

From now on, JICA Team together with Shahid Rajaee Power Plant will monitor the data, such as trend of the output of existing gas turbine, injection amount from fog nozzles and air temperature during a month, and will verify the result of the energy effectiveness.

JICA hopes this effective technology can be utilized not only in thermal power plants but also in various places, such as factories, agricultural field and others where cooling, cleaning, moisturizing is needed in Iran, and contributes the combating global warming in the country.

At the end of this ceremony, a "Certificate of Handover" was signed between TPPHC and Ikeuchi Co., ltd and TPPHC was submitted to JICA Iran Office.
