The third Joint Coordination Committee for the project on "Development and Implementation of a Master Plan for Environmental Conservation and Management of Southern Coastal Areas of the I.R. Iran (Case Study: Hormozgan)" was held on 17th August, 2019. Department of Environment (DoE) and the relevant authorities from Iranian side, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Iran Office and JICA's expert team from Japanese side, joined the committee.

Through this fruitful meeting, Dr. Lahijan Zadeh, Deputy of Marine Environment and Wetlands of DoE hailed supports and activities done by JICA and asked for strengthening and expansion of bilateral cooperation.

Dr. Lahijan Zadeh referred to an influential power of governmental resolution and emphasized that scaling up the legislation procedure of the Master Plan will surely speed up the procedure of implementing Hormozgan Master Plan. In this regard, he stated that this issue will accurately be followed.

Mr. Yukiharu Kobayashi, the Chief Representative of JICA Iran Office reiterated that Japan would continue to give priority to extending cooperation that benefit the people of Iran encompassing various areas, particularly environment.

After that, above mentioned Master Plan was further discussed and Mr. Takeshi Sato, the JICA expert, described the progress and outlined the strategies and actions needed to be done in the next following years.

At the end, Dr. Fadakar, the Director General of Coastal Management, summarized the legislation and dissemination structures and expressed the readiness of DoE for extending its collaboration in data sharing and facilitating the procedure of the Master Plan.
