Reunion of 2019 DRR trainees program

Participants of the "Country Focused Training program on the Project for Strengthening the Capacities of Disaster Management in Municipalities of Iran", which was held in JICA Kansai Center in August 2019, had a reunion after almost two months in the capital city of Tehran to share their own achievements and application of lessons learned from the training program.

Mr. Rajab Salahi, Municipalities Affairs' deputy of Municipalities and Rural Management Organization (MRMO) hosted the meeting and reiterated the responsibilities of each trainee for transferring knowledge and capacity to other colleagues in city, province and national level. He also appreciated long time support of JICA of Iranian officials to learn from Japanese experience and systems.

Mr. Kobayashi, Chief Representative of JICA Iran Office also expressed his gratitude for full support and coordination of MRMO officials for selecting right people and experts to participate in such a professional training program. He added that considering good performance of MRMO during past decades of collaboration with JICA, we are looking forward to formulate new mutual project with the organization in other fields of activities.

To inform MRMO officials of the latest development in their own organizations, selected participants presented their material and discussed the existing challenges to materialize the ideas and suggestions learned in Japan.

The representative of the participants Mr. Ziarati appreciated all the efforts for implementing this course and highly evaluated the program. He emphasized that the training was operational, but not theory and full of fruitful site visits. He added that they learnt a lot from the training course, as well as Japanese culture.
