The master plan for environmental management in Southern coastal area is seeking the way towards implementation stage - Report of the 4th Joint Coordination Committee

The Forth Joint Coordination Committee(JCC) for the project on "Development of a Master Plan for Environment Conservation and Management of Southern Coastal Areas of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Case Study: Hormozgan) (the Project) was held between Department of Environment, Embassy of Japan and JICA Iran Office.

During 4th JCC meeting, held on 14 Dec. 2019, DoE and JICA exchanged views on the recent measurements regarding expansion of the Project to a new phase "Implementation of the Master Plan".

In this regard, Mr. Lahijan Zadeh, Deputy of Marine Environment and Wetlands of DoE, appreciated all the efforts done by relevant organizations, particularly JICA Expert Team and JICA Iran Office. He pointed at the unique ecosystem and biodiversity of Hormozgan coastal lines and said, conservation of this regions and its marine environment is highly essential. Therefore, DoE will put all its efforts to support relevant activities.

Mr. Yukiharu Kobayashi hailed all JCC members for their collaboration on this issue and emphasized that, strengthening communication among stakeholders and promoting the capacity of their staff will definitely lead us to fruitful outcomes, especially for "Implementation of the Master Plan.

Mr. Akihiro Konno, the First Secretary of Embassy of Japan in Iran also delivered words on behalf of the Government of Japan and thanked JCC members, especially DoE for their supports and efforts.

Furthermore, Mr. Harada, The JICA Project Team Leader, described the outline of the Master Plan including the current status of Hormozgan coastal environment, result of the risk assessment, Strategies and action plans and Implementation framework.

In addition, Mr. Fadakar, the Director General of Coastal Management in DoE, explained the legislation, implementation structure and dissemination of the Master Plan.

At the end, all the presentations were discussed and reviewed by all JCC members from both of national and provincial level, encompassing Department of Environment, Plan and Budget Organization, Governor of Hormozgan province, JICA project leader and representatives of technical committees.
