Ground Breaking Ceremony of Japanese Garden held in Rasht City

Iran Government and JICA agreed to start a new scheme of cooperation, known as volunteer program in Iran in 2019, which is a year of 90th Anniversary of diplomatic relation between two countries. As the first cooperation, JICA dispatched the first senior volunteer Mr. Kiyoshi KOMATSU to Iran, in order to advise for designing and construction of a Japanese Garden in Rasht City, in cooperation with Rasht Municipality.

In 04th February 2020, Rasht Municipality hold a Ground Breaking Ceremony, in Mafakher Park of Rasht City, which is the location of Japanese Garden. The Mayor of Rasht City, officials from Green Space and Park Organization (GSPO) and Urban Space Renovation and Construction Organization(USRCO) of Rasht Municipality, officials from Planning and Budget Organization (PBO) of Gillan Province, as well as members of City Council participated in the ceremony.

The ceremony started with Quran and national anthem of Iran and continued with series of speeches from Mayor of Rasht City, members of City Council as well as representative from JICA Iran Office. After the series of speeches, the Mayor broke the ground and hope fully this is the start point of construction of the garden.
