Japan Center

What is a "Japan Center"?

"Japan Centers" have been established subsequently in the countries, which have been transitioning from planned economies to market economies, since 2000. The Japan Center was conceived in 1998 as a means to highlight Japan's ODA activities and to become hubs for training business personnel in the host countries and developing human networks between them and Japan.

Today, there are ten Japan Centers in nine countries offering three main programs based on 1) Business courses, 2) Japanese language courses, and 3) Programs to promote mutual understanding. In addition, the Centers also provide information about Japan to general public in the host countries through information services including libraries, audio-visual resources and the Internet, and transmit the local information back to Japan at the same time.

Japan Centers are continuously expected to play a significant role in promoting interaction and mutual understanding between the host countries and Japan. Our aim is to further provide "wide-open centers" to private enterprises, government bodies, students, and general public in the host countries and Japan.
