MONRE and JICA jointly organized the Inception Workshop for Low Carbon Technology Assessment -Enabling Implementation of INDC in Vietnam-, on 27 September, 2016, to launch a new study component of the Project. The Inception Workshop was attended by approximately 80 participants from key ministries, development partners, as well as research institute, and domestic and international experts related to INDC in Viet Nam.
In this new study component, MONRE and JICA, in close cooperation with line ministries and domestic and international partners, will develop a priority list of low carbon technologies, which promote implementation of Viet Nam's INDC, as well as find project seeds to demonstrate transfer and deployment of such technologies.
In order to kick off the work of study, participants shared the updates of Viet Nam's preparation for INDC, sharing international experiences (Thailand and Indonesia) with technology needs assessment (TNA), and domestic frameworks of NAMAs and INDC together with MRV, as well as the recent publication of the Energy Technology Outlook 2016, by the International Energy Agency.
(For more in detail, please see the below agenda and links with their presentation.)
Also, participants actively discussed multiple issues related to INDC and low carbon technologies, in particular, along with the below guiding questions.
Q1. How can a low carbon technology list for INDC mitigation options be best developed?
Q2. What are inputs for suggested evaluation indicators for prioritizing identified low carbon technology options?
Q3. How can policy dialogue be best designed to facilitate deployment and penetration of low carbon technologies?
Q4. Other topics that requires discussion
For the detail of the discussion, please download the meeting minutes of the Inception Workshop.
