For the KHFA, JICA provided support for finalization and printing of the survey tools and engaged local consultants for data analysis. On the other hand, the World Bank with funding from the PHRD grant by the Ministry of Finance of Japan, provided support to preparation of the Health Information System (HIS) landscape report of the KHRO.

In his remarks at the event, Mr. Shinjiro Amameishi, Senior Representative of JICA noted that expanding the scope and real-time availability of health data and information will facilitate the assessment of achievements and challenges towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in a timely manner. UHC aims to ensure that everyone, everywhere can access quality health services without suffering financial hardship. In this regard, Kenya, together with partners in health are working towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and UHC targets by 2030, to eliminate preventable maternal and child deaths, strengthen resilience to public health emergencies, reduce financial hardship linked to illness, and strengthen the foundations for long-term economic growth.

The event in Nairobi drew participation of high-level officials in the Ministry of Health, Semi-Autonomous Government Agencies, Council of County Governors, and County Departments of Health, Development Partners and Private Sector. Keynote speakers included the Acting Director General for Health and the Country Representative of World Health Organization.
