SHEP promotion movie in Nigeria released

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been implementing market oriented agricultural extension activities adopting Small-holder Horticulture Empowerment and Promotion (SHEP) Approach since 2017 with Department of Agricultural Extension of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Federal Capital Territory Administration Agricultural Development Project (FCT-ADP) and Nasarawa State Agricultural Development Programme (NADP).

SHEP is an approach, which realizes "Market-Oriented Agriculture" and converts farmers' mind from "grow and sell" to "grow to sell". In Kenya, with this approach, the project achieved doubled income of 2,500 smallholders only within 2 years (2007-2009).

JICA and FMARD are planning to upscale SHEP activities to other states, and in order to disseminate the concept of SHEP approach among farmers and government officials, a short movie has been developed. The movie shows several testimonials of farmers and extension agents which would help viewers realize how SHEP approach benefits farmers.
