On Sept. 9, Princess Mako attended a commemorative ceremony in the Paraguayan capital of Asunción to mark the 80th anniversary of the start of Japanese migration to Paraguay in 1936. After the ceremony, the princess granted a ceremony to 30 JICA volunteers. The Japanese migrants and their ancestors, known as Nikkei, have been supported by JICA and the Japanese government, and they have greatly contributed to the country.

Nine participants of the JICA’s Knowledge Co-Creation Program “National Government Administration for Senior Officials” were granted an audience with His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Naruhito at the Crown Prince’s Palace on Oct. 25.
