Latin America

Japan and Latin America have enjoyed a close relationship for more than 100 years since the first Japanese economic immigrants arrived in that continent.

For the last several decades JICA has been involved in many projects there – helping to protect the continent's amazing biodiversity and environment in the Amazon river basin, the Andes mountains and elsewhere to helping eradicate poverty, improving health, education and economic standards and helping to eradicate the deadly chagas disease.

The photo gallery highlights this ‘love affair’ the continent's natural heritage and some of JICA's projects.
