Implementation of TCTP “Capacity Development for Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET)”

JICA Malaysia Office, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia and Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training (CIAST), will organize the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) “Capacity Development for Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET)” from 18 September - to 30 September 2024.

TCTP is a type of technical cooperation whereby JICA in partnership with one developing country organises a training course in the said country and invite participants from other developing countries to participate. The purpose of such training program is to share Japan and Malaysia’s experience in the particular field and strengthen capacity of the participants to deal with various development issues in their own country.

In Malaysia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia has been implementing the Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) since the year 1980 and have been jointly implementing TCTP with JICA since 1992.

For this TCTP, the CIAST will be the training institute and will accept 10 trainees from African countries to provide training on new generation automobile maintenance and services. The outline of the training is as follows.

18 September – 30 September, 2024

  1. Training Venue:
CIAST Centre, Mardhiyyah Hotel & Suites (Shah Alam), Perodua HQ Rawang & Cameron Highlands.

  1. Target Countries:
African Countries - Ghana, Namibia, Tanzania & Uganda.
(1 Ghana, 6 Namibia, 2 Tanzania & 1 Uganda)

  1. Overview:
15 days of physical training course will enable trainees to understand the importance of safety work procedures during maintenance, specifically in high-voltage environment, acquire knowledge and skills in the basic concept of common rail diesel systems, engine management systems & electric and hybrid vehicle technology, and perform effectively troubleshooting Common-Rail Diesel Injection (CRDi), Engine Management Systems (EMS), as well as Electrical & Hybrid Vehicles (EHV) requires a diverse arsenal of diagnostic tools.
