Dear JICA OIC, Omedetoo gozaimasu!
JICA沖縄のみなさま、おめでとうございます！

I am delighted to greet JICA OIC on its 40th founding anniversary. I am equally grateful for the great opportunities and support as kenshuin which tremendously help me do my job better at the National Manpower and Youth Council (NMYC), Office of Manpower Skills Development (OMSD), as coordinator of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV).
JICA沖縄の設立40周年に、ご挨拶できることを嬉しく思います。また、青年海外協力隊のコーディネーターとして、職業開発局の人材育成課でより良い仕事ができるよう、研修員として素晴らしい機会を与えていただき、大変感謝しております。

My course was the first batch then since OIC opening in April 1985. As a young mother then, I overcome homesickness because of excellent administrators, staff and teachers and the way the course was designed which allowed us interactions with warm hearted Okinawans and experienced living with Japanese family through home stay program. I made friends from around the world and remained in touch with them till now. My fellow kenshuin were from Panama, Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia. I am forever grateful to sensei Ishikawa, Matsuoka, Sho, ably assisted by Kinjo san. Under the leadership of Director Ozawa of JICA OIC, we have great memories of our stay in Okinawa and instilled in us discipline and work ethics. I learned the great culture of Japan and Ryukyu history and way of life. My career as a civil servant and professional development were positively influenced by my training in OIC.
私は1985年4月にOICが開所して以来の第一期生だった。当時若い母親であった私がホームシックを克服できたのは、優秀な事務局スタッフ、先生方のおかげであり、また、心温かい沖縄の人々との交流や、ホームステイプログラムを通じて日本人家庭での生活を体験できるコース設計のおかげでした。世界中に友達ができ、今でも連絡を取り合っています。 私の仲間はパナマ、ブラジル、タイ、インドネシア、シンガポール、マレーシアから来ました。石川先生、松岡先生、翔先生、そして金城さんに心から感謝しています。当時のJICA沖縄の小澤所長のリーダーシップの下、私たちは沖縄滞在の素晴らしい思い出を作ることができ、規律と労働倫理を身につけることができました。日本の素晴らしい文化、琉球の歴史と生活様式を学びました。私の公務員としてのキャリアと専門的な能力開発は、OICでの研修によって良い影響を受けました。
