長期研修課では、2024年JICAインターシップ・プログラムに参加している日本の大学・大学院生を受け入れています。インターン生6人による開発途上国から来日している留学生へのインタビューを順次お届けします。

塩谷稀一郎（東京大学 大学院 工学系研究科　修士１年）

私は、母国モンゴルのE-Mongolia Academyでシステムエンジニアとして働いてきました。そこではモンゴルで最大級のデジタル・プラットフォームを開発し、主に政府サービスや一部の民間サービスをデジタルで提供してきました。
より広範な分野に貢献するために、マネジメントやリーダーシップのスキルを身につけたいと考えていました。自分のスキルを向上させ、より多くの経験を積むために、海外留学を目指すことになりました。日本を留学先に選んだのは、JICAが提供するサイバーセキュリティ関連のプログラムが私の興味と合致しており、さらにテクノロジー、イノベーション、ビジネスを統合した「technovate」などのグロービス経営大学院のユニークな授業に特に惹かれたからです。

私はグロービス経営大学院のMBAプログラムで学びました。当初は、多くの授業や課題に追われ、ペースをつかむのが大変でしたが、technovateやデザイン思考、AIやデータサイエンスなど、ユニークな授業もあり、大変満足しています。講師の方々は、私自身の「kokorozashi(志)」を育む上で大きな助けとなりました。また、様々な国出身のクラスメイトと関わる機会もあり、多様な文化への理解が深まりました。
世界最大の都市である東京での学生生活は、ユニークな経験でした。東京の多様性は、日本語を話せない私でも適応を容易にしてくれました。
留学期間の後半には、遠隔でFraunhofer Singapore (ドイツのラウンホーファー研究機構のシンガポール研究所)でのインターンシップに参加しました。インターンシップでは、ポスト量子暗号（PQC）と量子鍵配布（QKD）のプロジェクトに携わりました。これらは私にとって新しく難しいテーマでしたが、非常に有意義なものでした。
全体として、この留学プログラムは素晴らしく、充実した経験でした。

モンゴルに戻り、自分が今回身に付けたMBAの知識や日本での経験を元の仕事に活かしたいです。また、職場においてもリーダーシップを発揮し、チームがより効率良く働けるようにしたいと考えています。また、JICAには非常に感謝しており、今後何かしらの形でJICAに関わり、恩返ししたいと思っています。

新しい環境に順応するのは簡単なことではないかもしれませんが、JICAの方々が非常に手厚くサポートを下さるので、心配事なく学業に集中できます。頑張って下さい！

I have been working as a systems engineer at E-Mongolia Academy for the past 5 years in my home country, Mongolia. During this time, we developed one of the largest digital platforms in Mongolia (1.7 million active users almost half of the population), which primarily provides government services as well as some private sector services digitally. Mongolia has been accelerating its digital development over the past decade.
To expand my impact and contribute to a broader range of areas, I wanted to complement my engineering background with management and leadership skills. This led me to pursue further studies abroad to enhance my skills and gain more experience. I chose Japan as my destination because a program related to cybersecurity offered by JICA aligned with my interests, and I was particularly drawn to the unique classes at Globis University, such as “Technovate,” which integrates technology, innovation, and business.

I studied in the Full-time MBA program at Globis University in Tokyo, which was an intensified one-year program. Initially, the pace was quite challenging to catch up, with numerous classes and assignments, but I was very satisfied with the unique courses offered, such as Technovate Strategy, Design Thinking and some other classes covered AI and Data science. My lecturers were instrumental in helping me develop my own kokorozashi (personal mission). I also had the opportunity to learn from my classmates, who came from 17 different countries, enriching my understanding of diverse cultures.
Living and studying in Japan provided me with many unique experiences, especially in Tokyo, the world’s largest city. The city's diversity made it easier to adapt, even as someone who doesn't speak Japanese.
During the latter half of my study abroad period, I undertook an internship remotely at Fraunhofer Singapore (Singaporean branch of German research institute), offered to me by one of my lecturers. During my internship, I worked on projects involving Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) and Quantum Key Distribution (QKD). Although these were new and challenging topics for me, the experience was incredibly meaningful.
Overall, this study abroad program was a wonderful and enriching experience.

I’d like to return to Mongolia and apply the MBA knowledge and my experience I’ve acquired in Japan to my job. I would also like to take on a leadership role in the workplace to make my team work more efficiently. I am also very grateful to JICA and want to return the favor by getting involved with JICA in some way in the future.

It may not be easy to adapt to a new environment, but the people at JICA are very supportive, so you can concentrate on your studies without any worries. Just do your best!
