JICA東京の近くにある西原小学校で7月5日（土）に開催された「国際交流会」は、サモア、メキシコ、タイ、モーリタニア、ラオス、ガーナ、エチオピアからの研修員7名を迎え、渋谷区の日本語学校からも数名が参加しました。小学生たちの温かいおもてなしに、研修員たちは心を打たれました！
JICA participants were invited to the international exchange day again this year!
"The creativity of the students made us feel the hope for Japan's future. Schools are a major foundation for the sustainable development of a country," said the participants with voices of admiration. The "International Exchange Day" held at Nishihara Elementary School near JICA Tokyo on Saturday, July 5, welcomed seven participants from Samoa, Mexico, Thailand, Mauritania, Laos, Ghana, and Ethiopia, with several participants from a Japanese language school in Shibuya city. The warm hospitality of the elementary school students deeply moved the participants!

その後、4年生が運動会で披露したソーラン節を研修員の目の前で発表してくれました。
Afterward, the fourth graders performed the Soran Bushi dance, which they showcased at the sports festival, right in front of the participants.

その後、1年生から6年生までの各クラスが研修員を迎え、それぞれのクラスで準備した交流プログラムや発表に参加しました。研修員たちは自分の国の文化についてプレゼンテーションや自国のゲームを通じて文化を伝えました。小学生たちも知らない文化を楽しんでいる様子でした！

各クラスでは、日本の伝統遊びや日本文化紹介、歌などを準備してくれていました。小学生の匠な技術や優秀さに研修員は驚き！ついて行くことに必死です！言葉の壁があっても、笑顔とボディランゲージを交えて小学生は一生懸命、遊び方を伝えていました。
In each class, traditional Japanese games, introductions to Japanese culture, and songs were prepared. The participants were amazed by the students' skilled techniques and excellence, struggling to keep up! Despite language barriers, the elementary school students earnestly conveyed how to play using smiles and body language.

あるクラスでは、国際交流会の感想を生徒が伝えてくれました。「外国人の皆さんと仲良くなれることを知れて良かった」「外国人の方の文化を知ることができて良かった」「来てくれたおかげで外国人の方とも仲良くなれたし、クラスの仲も深まった」といった声が上がりました。
In one class, students shared their impressions of the international exchange meeting. Voices were raised saying, "I'm glad to know that we can become friends with foreigners," "I'm glad to learn about the culture of foreigners," and "Thanks to their visit, we were able to become friends with foreigners, and the class bond deepened."

世界がグローバル化していることに加え、日本国内の外国人の増加、日本国内の国際化が進んでいます。小学校自体も、多くの外国に繋がる子どもが増えています。中には異文化理解ができておらず、問題が起きてしまう学校も少なくありません。この経験が小学生にとって少しでも異文化理解に繋がることを願っています。
In addition to the globalization of the world, the increase in foreigners within Japan, and the progress of internationalization within Japan, the elementary school itself has more children connected to various foreign countries. Some schools face issues due to a lack of understanding of different cultures. We hope this experience will lead to a better understanding of different cultures for the elementary school students.
