12月14日、JICA東京で子ども向けイベント 「JICA World Expo for Kids」 を開催しました。
当日は、近隣の小学生を中心に、未就学児から高校生、大学生、保護者まで、約300名の方が来場。会場は最後まで、笑顔と元気な声でいっぱいでした。
このイベントは、「日本や地域の人たちともっと交流・貢献したい」「自分たちの国や文化を伝えたい」というJICA長期研修員（※）の思いから生まれたものです。
※長期研修員とは、日本の大学院に入学し、修士／博士課程を通して、母国の開発に寄与するための総合的かつ高度な技術や知識の習得を目指す人材（多くは行政官など）。帰国後は、国の将来を担うリーダーとして活躍している。研修員受入事業（長期） ｜ 日本国内での取り組み - JICA
On December 14, JICA Tokyo hosted “JICA World Expo for Kids”—a special event for children to experience cultures from around the world. About 300 visitors, including local elementary school students, preschoolers, high school and university students, and parents, filled the venue with smiles and excitement until the very end.
This event was born from the heartfelt wish of JICA Scholarship students:
“We want to interact and contribute more to Japan and the local community and share our countries and cultures.”

会場には、アンゴラ、バングラデシュ、ボツワナ、エジプト、エチオピア、インドネシア、カザフスタン、ケニア、リベリア、マダガスカル、メキシコ、ミャンマー、ナイジェリア、南アフリカの14カ国・29名の研修員による国別ブースがずらり。
伝承遊びにチャレンジしたり、工作や塗り絵を楽しんだり、民族衣装を見せてもらったりと、子どもたちは「見て・触れて・話して」世界を体験していました。
The venue featured booths from 14 countries—Angola, Bangladesh, Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, and South Africa—presented by 29 participants.
Children enjoyed traditional games, crafts, coloring activities, and even trying on ethnic costumes. They truly “saw, touched, and talked” their way through a global experience.

特に人気だったのが、“世界のあいさつスタンプラリー”。「次はどこの国？」「全部集めたい！」と、会場中を元気に回る姿が印象的でした。全てを集めるために開場の11時からイベント終了の15時までい続ける子どもたちも沢山見受けられました。
参加した子どもたちからは、「学校では聞けない国の話が聞けて楽しかった」「外国の人がすごく優しくて、たくさん話せた」といった声がたくさん届きました。生身の人と出会って世界を知る、そんな特別な体験になったようです。
One of the most popular attractions was the “World Greeting Stamp Rally.”
Kids eagerly asked, “Which country is next?” and “I want to collect them all!” Many stayed from the opening at 11:00 until the event ended at 15:00 to complete their stamp collection.
Children shared their impressions,“I learned things about countries we never hear about at school—it was so fun!”“JICA Scholarship students were so kind, and I got to talk a lot!”
Meeting real people and learning about the world became a truly special experience.

12月・1月のホリデーシーズンにあわせて、研修員からそれぞれの国の過ごし方を紹介してもらうコーナーもありました。
クリスマスだけでなく、独立記念日や宗教行事など、国ごとにまったく違う祝い方に、子どもたちは興味津々。「こんなに違うんだ！」という驚きの声があがっていました。

In line with the December–January holiday season, JICA scholarship students introduced how their countries celebrate—Christmas, independence days, religious events, and more.
Kids were amazed by the diversity: “Wow, it’s so different!”

イベント中盤には、世界盆踊り協会（World Bon Bon）の皆さんが登場。
世界各国の踊りに合わせて、研修員も参加者も一緒になってダンス！知らない人同士でも自然と手をつなぎ、会場は一体感に包まれました。
国や文化が違っても、音楽と笑顔でつながれる、そんなことを感じさせてくれる時間でした。

Midway through the event, members of the World Bon Bon Association led dances from various countries. JICA scholarship students and visitors joined hands and danced together, creating a sense of unity.
Music and smiles truly transcend borders.

会場にはそのほかにも、「草の根技術協力に関わるNGO団体のブース」「世界の制服の展示」「JDR（国際緊急援助隊）の展示」「子どもの夢の絵」「世界の絵本・漫画コーナー」エスニック料理の食べられるJICA東京食堂「OASIS」など、子どもから大人まで楽しめる展示や体験が盛りだくさんでした。「草の根技術協力に関わるNGO団体のブース」では、草の根技術協力を実施している4つの団体（バルシック、日本ハビタット協会、FIDR、長岡造形大学）が参加し、トイレすごろくやコーヒー・紅茶の試飲会、手工芸品ワークショップなどが行われ、参加者に大変人気のあるコーナーとなりました。

The venue also featured: NGO booths showcasing grassroots technical cooperation・Displays of school uniforms from around the world・JDR (Japan Disaster Relief) team exhibits・Children’s dream drawings・A world picture book and MANGA corner・Ethnic cuisine at JICA Tokyo’s “OASIS” cafeteria. Fun for all ages!

イベントの最後には、研修員代表からこんな言葉がありました。「今回お互いを知ることで、少しでも心の壁がなくなったらうれしい」

At the end of the event, a representative of the JICA scholarship students shared,
“If today helped break down even a small barrier between us, we’re happy.”

世界を知ることは、人を知ること。
JICA東京はこれからも、子どもたちが楽しみながら世界と出会い、世界を近くに感じられる場をつくっていきます。
