Main Task of NGO Desk To meet the diverse needs of developing countries, JICA supports citizens' participation in international cooperation activities and promotes cooperation in various ways. As part of this, JICA Uganda Office has set up the NGO-JICA Japan Desk (hereinafter referred to as the Japan Desk) in order to promote cooperation between Japanese NGOs, universities, local governments that are implementing or considering international cooperation activities, Japanese private companies wishing to invest in Uganda and business development, local NGOs, etc., and JICA. In addition, the Japan Desk provides support as a bridge between Japanese people who want to support Ugandan NGOs and who want to work together with Ugandan NGOs.
The Role of Japan Desk
As JICA's support, we will implement partnership programs (grass root technical cooperation projects, private sector partnership projects, etc.) and promote cooperation projects between Japanese NGOs, universities, local governments, the private sector and Ugandan officials. We will provide you with information related to Uganda's social development issues and NGOs.
The Service of Japan Desk
  1. Supporting activities and providing information to Japanese NGOs, universities, local governments, etc.
    　・Introduction of basic information or assistance-related information in Uganda, as well as laws and systems related to the activities of NGOs, universities, local governments, private companies, etc.
    　・Advice on project planning for grassroots technical cooperation projects and private sector partnership projects (SME / SDG business support projects) to be implemented in Uganda.
  2. Support for activities of Japanese NGOs, universities, local governments, etc., such as grassroots technical cooperation support
    　・Support for ongoing projects
    　・Consultation for new business
  3. Strengthening cooperation between Japanese people and Ugandan NGOs, universities, local governments, private companies, etc.
    　・Coordination related to collaborative projects such as NGOs, universities, and local governments
    　・Promotion of exchanges and collaborative activities between Japan and Uganda through seminars, workshops, etc.
    　・Consultations on Ugandan NGOs, universities, local governments, etc.
  4. PR of JICA collaboration projects with Japanese and Ugandan NGOs, universities, local governments, private companies, etc. to Japanese and Ugandan citizens
    　・Dissemination of the results of JICA projects to the Japanese and Ugandan people
    　・Dissemination and provision of information on Ugandan NGOs, private companies and donors to various JICA organizations (headquarters, domestic center, other overseas offices)
